The focus of this paper is on climate change activism and how social media can leverage awareness and effective action through the interplay between three agencies: affective, discursive and technological. Building on data collected via 120 semi-structured interviews, the aim of this research is to uncover different configurations related to a state of alignment (flow) or mis-alignment (paralysis) between these three components and their potential to offer a revealing lens through which to address whether users' interaction with social media platforms may result in them becoming alienated or sustainably engaged with the cause they are supporting, in a way which is detached, genuine and meaningful, rather than aggressive and overwhelming.},

A great deal of works has studied candidate constructions that are secure against quantum attackers, which are based on either lattice assumptions, or post-quantum collision-resistant hash functions. In this paper, we propose a code-based zk-SNARK scheme, whose security is based on the rank support learning (RSL) problem, a variant of the random linear code decoding problem in the rank metric.
Our construction follows the general framework of Gennaro et al. (CCS'18), which is based on square span programs (SSPs). Due to the fundamental differences between the hardness assumptions, our proof of security cannot apply the techniques from the lattice-based constructions, and indeed, it distinguishes itself by the use of techniques from coding theory. We also provide the scheme with a set of concrete parameters.},

abstract = {In the framework of Impagliazzo's five worlds, a distinction is often made between two worlds, one where public-key encryption exists (Cryptomania), and one in which only one-way functions exist (MiniCrypt). However, the boundaries between these worlds can change when quantum information is taken into account. Recent work has shown that quantum variants of oblivious transfer and multi-party computation, both primitives that are classically in Cryptomania, can be constructed from one-way functions, placing them in the realm of quantum MiniCrypt (the so-called MiniQCrypt). This naturally raises the following question: Is it possible to construct a quantum variant of public-key encryption, which is at the heart of Cryptomania, from one-way functions or potentially weaker assumptions? In this work, we initiate the formal study of the notion of quantum public-key encryption (qPKE), i.e., public-key encryption where keys are allowed to be quantum states. We propose new definitions of security and several constructions of qPKE based on the existence of one-way functions (OWF), or even weaker assumptions, such as pseudorandom function-like states (PRFS) and pseudorandom function-like states with proof of destruction (PRFSPD). Finally, to give a tight characterization of this primitive, we show that computational assumptions are necessary to build quantum public-key encryption. That is, we give a self-contained proof that no quantum public-key encryption scheme can provide information-theoretic security.},

abstract = {Properties of quantum mechanics have enabled the emergence of quantum cryptographic protocols achieving important goals which are proven to be impossible classically. Unfortunately, this usually comes at the cost of needing quantum power from every party in the protocol, while arguably a more realistic scenario would be a network of classical clients, classically interacting with a quantum server.
In this paper, we focus on copy-protection, which is a quantum primitive that allows a program to be evaluated, but not copied, and has shown interest especially due to its links to other unclonable cryptographic primitives. Our main contribution is to show how to dequantize quantum copy-protection schemes constructed from hidden coset states, by giving a construction for classically-instructed remote state preparation for coset states, which preserves hardness properties of hidden coset states. We then apply this dequantizer to obtain semi-quantum cryptographic protocols for copy-protection and tokenized signatures with strong unforgeability. In the process, we present the first secure copy-protection scheme for point functions in the plain model and a new direct product hardness property of coset states which immediately implies a strongly unforgeable tokenized signature scheme.},

various beam models, encompassing 1D Euler-Bernoulli, 2D, and 3D representations,
to determine the eigenfrequencies and electromechanical responses of the
energy harvester. The research includes a comparative analysis, which contrasts
the results obtained from the proposed FE models with the experimental findings
of Erturk and Inman, as well as analytical solutions. The results reveal that the 3D
model exhibits minimal error. Additionally, using the 3D model, this work investigates
the influence of tip mass shape on the electromechanical response of the

In this context, we propose an automatic global approach for leading data model's transformation process. This approach starts with the generation of all possible solutions. It then relies on a cost model that helps to compare these generated data models to finally choose the best one for the given use case. This cost model integrates both data model and queries cost. It also takes into consideration the environmental impact of a data model as well as its financial and its time cost. This work presents for the first time a multidimensional cost model encompassing time, environmental and financial constraints, which compares data models leading to the choice of the best one for a given use case and context. In addition, a simulation tool for data model's transformation and cost computation has been developed based on our approach.},

The mechanism has two stages which consist of a fixed base, an intermediate mobile platform, and a mobile end-effector. Each stage is connected by three tension springs and a universal joint in the center. By correlating to a 3-SPS-U architecture, the geometrical equations for the mechanism are generated in the Euler space and the Tilt & Torsion space. To simplify the computations, the Tilt & Torsion space is employed for the analysis of the mechanism. A stability analysis is carried out initially to identify the design parameters of the mechanism in the static mode through an optimization approach. By employing algebraic methods, the singularity analysis is then carried out on the hybrid mechanism. The results of this analysis helped in identifying the feasible workspace and the maximum tilt limits of the architecture. A mapping equation that demonstrates the relation between the Tilt & Torsion angles and the Euler angles is then presented using the results of singularity analysis. A numerical simulation is then demonstrated to validate the results of the analysis. The mechanism under study is then proposed to be integrated into a piping inspection robot for passing through elbows and T-sections.},

material resistance-to-failure. Predicting these values from the solid structure at the atomistic
scale remains elusive, even in the simplest situations of ideal brittle fracture. By using numerical
simulations on scalar lattice models of fracture, we demonstrate that fracture toughness cannot
be deduced from Griffith's specific surface energy, as is generally believed. Rather, it finds its
origin in the matching between the continuum displacement field at the engineering scale and the
discrete lattice of solids at the atomic scale. The generic asymptotic form taken by this field near
crack tip provides a solution for this matching, and subsequently a way to predict toughness
from the atomistic parameters. This method is extended to true vectorial elasticity and is used
to revisit the fracture toughness/fracture energy values observed in bidimensional crystalline
materials like graphene},

Many entrepreneurs are searching for such answers in digital technologies, producing new technologies that promise a response to grand challenges. Entrepreneurial attempts to imagine socially relevant technologies, however, reveal a dark side in the creation of technologies that project entrepreneurial expectations on users and shape expectations for user experience. Through a qualitative study of imagining a new technology that responds to a grand challenge of workplace wellbeing, we find that imagined technologies shape specific solutions relevant to company HR practices for responses to workplace wellbeing. This made possible by the elusiveness of wellbeing, as highly subjective, future oriented and not reliant on previous user experiences. Wellbeing's elusiveness allows entrepreneur-designers to align user beliefs to entrepreneur-designers' needs. We find that instead of imagining radically new affordances, entrepreneur designers rely on a mix of adapted real affordances of existing technologies and an affordance of educability that helps define elusive phenomena for technology users.},

abstract = {In the context of Industry 4.0, large volumes of manufacturing data are available on instrumented machine-tool. The critical point is the
exploitation of this digital content. Data contextualization is important for efficient and robust data mining, particularly for industrial production. For this purpose, a classification method of the operational manufacturing context is proposed. It relies on knowledge integration (by business rules) and unsupervised machine learning, with a Gaussian Mixture Model, applied to in-process monitoring signals. The method was evaluated on real industrial machining databases collected during one year. Manual data mining shows that this method is accurate on industrial production (98.9%). Moreover, the application of contextual classifications for the chatter detection on the same production data shows the relevancy of the proposed data mining approach.},

abstract = {We present Harmonic Maps, a visualization of three-note chord spaces and an interactive application that allows users to explore in real-time the connection between the visualization and its mapped sounds. While typical harmonic analysis is based only on notes or on an audio signal, our analysis takes a hybrid approach by quantifying different types of interactions between the spectra of notes. These quantifications, which we call Harmonic Descriptors, are derived from acoustic or perceptual models. Three such descriptors are defined and mapped: concordance, third order concordance and roughness.
Harmonic analysis based on spectral structures opens new possibilities beyond traditional note-only or signal-only approaches. They can be applied to a continuum of frequencies, independent of the tuning system, as well as historical and stylistic constraints. Harmonic Maps based on spectral structures can be especially relevant to study the relationship between timbre and harmony. Our interactive exploration of harmonic spaces can have applications for analytical, compositional and educational purposes.},

abstract = {Additive manufacturing of silicone is increasingly being explored to complement the traditional molding fabrication technique for Soft Pneumatic Actuators (SPAs). However, the mechanical behavior of SPAs is defined by their 3D form, which leads to prioritizing the SPAs mechanical properties over their aspect. In this paper, we propose a novel SPA fabrication method where the mechanical properties of a silicone part are defined during the fabrication phase rather than the 3D modeling phase, leading to the object's mechanical properties being independent of the object's aspect. This novel SPA fabrication method, named Local Layer Splitting (LLS), consists of local modifications of the printing layer height to integrate stiffness variation, thus generating controlled mechanical deformation when pressured. We discovered that silicone printing layer height impacts the final stiffness of the material, and it could be used to program bending deformation to actuators during printing. We first characterize the effect of the layer height parameters on 3D-printed silicone stiffness with tensile tests. Then, we present a custom slicer we developed to generate G-codes with local layer height variations depending on the x and y positions. We then characterize the bending and force achievable by SPAs made with the LLS process and find that they match those of state-of-the-art SPAs. Finally, we present and discuss how the LLS method impacts the SPAs design by shifting the bending behavior integration from the SPAs 3D conception to their fabrication phase.},

abstract = {The value of the online luxury market worldwide between 2004 and 2021 has not stopped to increase, rising 62 billion euros in 2021 (Bain & Company, 2021). Nine percent of worldwide luxury good sales were made online in 2017. This figure was expected to reach 25 percent by 2025 (Statista, 2023). The current limitations in online shopping prevents consumers from touching, stroking, and even trying on the product as you could do in a traditional retail store (Hu & Wise, 2020). Introducing digitalization in luxury sector to improve customer interaction with the product is a factor differenti-ated from customer service (Son, Bae & Kim, 2023). Moreover, the use of touch devices (e.g., tablets using with fingers) have become prevalent in the daily lives of consumers, including when shopping online for fashion items (Lee & Choi, 2022). Customers prefer easy-to-use websites in order to opti-mize their actions; the more intuitive an experience is, the higher the quality of that experience (Pelet and Taieb, 2018; Pelet and Taieb, 2022). Such an experience may be created through image interac-tivity, which may enhance shopping experiences, provided that the consumer keeps control of their moves on the screen and feels ?dominating' it. Unlike non-touch, click-based devices (e.g., desktop computers with a mouse), touch devices allow online shoppers to directly touch product images on the screen with their fingers (Lee & Choi, 2022). The objective of designers of such e-commerce websites is to turn the in-store experience into the online environment, through the use of object interactivity, virtual try-ons, mix-and-match functionalities, etc. (Perry, Blazquez and Padilla, 2013). Furthermore, image interactivity includes techniques which replace a sense that is normally not acti-vated on the Internet: the sense of touch. Prior research has examined the effects of image interactivity technology on consumer responses. However, such effects have not been fully investigated in the context of online luxury shopping. In this study, we investigate the effects of product image interac-tivity (zoom, rotation and 3D) on perceived control and willingness to purchase online. We also are interested in exploring whether the type of interfaces (touch screen vs mouse) moderates these rela-tionships. A confirmatory study was conducted. The data were collected through an online survey (n=395). The results show that image interactivity positively influences perceived control and will-ingness to purchase luxury product online. The effect of image interactivity on willingness to pur-chase becomes stronger when this relation is mediated by perceived control. The results indicate no significant differences when accessing interactive images through a touch screen compared to a mouse. Managerial implications for luxury brands are discussed.},

Intonation, the patterns of pitch change across words or phrases is often neglected, despite its key role in word-level intelligibility and in the expression of attitudes and affect. This paper examines hand-controlled real-time vocal synthesis, known as Performative Vocal Synthesis (PVS), as an interaction technique for practicing L2 intonation in computer aided pronunciation training (CAPT).
We evaluate a tablet-based interface where users gesturally control the pitch of a pre-recorded utterance by drawing curves on the touchscreen. 24 subjects (12 French learners, 12 British controls) imitated English phrases with their voice and the interface. Results of an acoustic analysis and expert perceptive evaluation showed that learners' gestural imitations yielded more accurate results than vocal imitations of the fall-rise intonation pattern typically difficult for francophones, suggesting that PVS can help learners produce intonation patterns beyond the capabilities of their natural voice.},

abstract = {The thermocompression molding process allows composites to be made with longer fibers compared to injection molding and extrusion. However, during thermo-compression molding fiber-reinforced composites are exposed to complex effects, which can lead to specific fiber orientation/distribution and therefore affect the mechanical properties. The aim of this work is to study the effect of fiber orientation on the mechanical properties of the long-glass-fiber-reinforced polypropylene (GF50-PP) composite produced by the thermocompression process. Moreover, due to the application of this composite in cold liquid gas storage, it is interesting to study this effect under cryogenic conditions. In this study, composite plates of GF50-PP were cut to analyze the effect of fiber orientations: 0°, 45°, and 90° with respect to the Mold Flow Direction (MFD). After microstructural observations by SEM microscopy and physico-chemical analysis, the mechanical behavior of GF50-PP samples was examined at monotonic tensile loading and tension-tension fatigue at two loading temperatures of 20°C and -70 °C. The results of the tensile tests revealed that the values of stress at break were almost similar at 20°C and -70°C for different fiber orientations of 0°, 45° and 90° and that the temperature effect for the two test conditions is almost insignificant. The tensile-tension fatigue tests at 20°C show the significant effect of the orientation of the fibers when the amplitude of deformation is important. On the other hand, when the amplitude is small, this effect is negligible. In this case, all samples exhibit almost the same behavior. However, during fatigue tests at -70 ° C (cryogenic temperature), the material shows almost uniform linear behavior, but still sensitive to the orientation of the fibers.},

This type of architectures is relevant to smart grids as it allow the various actors in the grids to work even in the cases of technical problems. Holons in the proposed model are composed of five interconnecting agents that ensure flexibility on the various aspects. This model has been tested and has proven to work on 3 different scenarios. The first scenario simulates a grid in its healthy state. The second one simulates a grid where a region can be disconnected from a blackout for example. The third one simulates a grid with production mismanagement. Contrary to grayscale images, linearts lack semantic information such as shading and texture, making the task even more difficult. While such approaches can generate high-quality outputs in real-time, the user only interacts with the pipeline once at the beginning of the process. This paper presents StencilTorch, an interactive and user-guided framework for anime lineart colorization motivated by digital artist workflows. In this work, we investigate its adaptation in the quantum world, when an adversary can perform superposition queries. The security of quantum-secure classical encryption has first been studied by Boneh and Zhandry (CRYPTO'13), but they restricted the adversary to classical challenge queries, which makes the indistinguishability only hold for classical messages (IND-qCCA2). We extend their work by giving the first security notions for fully quantum indistinguishability under quantum adaptive chosen-ciphertext attacks, where the indistinguishability holds for superposition of plaintexts (qIND-qCCA2).},

For financially-constrained Pro se inventors from the USPTO experiment, patents act as a signal and increase the likelihood of affiliation. For the broader set of independent inventors, however, patents reduce financial, informational, and commercialization frictions and increase subsequent inventive activity.},

We find that behind the tensions between brand-building and brand presentation stands brands' concern about authenticity. abstract = {The present article investigates entrepreneurial sustainable innovations (ESIs) that work against the five elements (policy, finance, human capital, support and culture) of the entrepreneurial ecosystem (EE) model (Isenberg, 2011). By conducting empirical research on 14 European countries, the study addresses how an EE can support entrepreneurs in creating sustainable innovations. Overall, the study contributes to exploring the relations between the EE and the relevant classes of ESIs, providing entrepreneurs and policymakers a framework by using a holistic examination of the EE and contributing to more effective policy solutions to encourage sustainable and resilient entrepreneurship-led economic growth. As shown by a quantitative analysis, ESIs are positively correlated with policy, finance and support in terms of infrastructural and administrative support, whereas culture and human capital do not significantly influence ESIs. The results also highlight that the EE's key factors have different impacts on ESIs over time because the effect of EEs can be considered a complex system because of its heterogeneous and dynamic nature. In addition, the country-level capability of ESIs are measured, showing that Ukraine, Romania, Poland and the Czech Republic demonstrate a low-level capability of ESIs, while Germany, the UK, Sweden, Netherlands, France and Belgium show a high-level capability. By contributing to the entrepreneurial literature, the research invokes sustainable mechanisms of innovation to boost national economic performance in European countries.},

to analyze the effects of multi-step cyberattacks on the safety of cyber-physical systems. We show how to represent systems, their components (either software and/or hardware), communication links, security measures, and attacks from a malicious intruder. The latter are typically taken from the MITRE ATT&CK knowledge base. The discrete event simulation method makes it possible to represent any event affecting the system. We illustrate our approach by means of an illustrative example involving cyberattacks against the navigation system of an autonomous ship. We show how the formal modeling language AltaRica, primarily dedicated to safety analyses, can assess this illustrative example by representing the system and automatically extracting sequences of attacks,
leading to a safety-critical situation, namely the deviation of the ship by the attacker. This article aims to discuss this approach and to outline the lessons learned from our experience.},

abstract = {Artificial Intelligence and related technologies represent a major advance in the human capacity to produce knowledge from different areas of knowledge. The application of these technologies in repetitive human activities that can be learned by a machine is already a constant in society, but their use in education still needs research, especially pedagogical research, which can make it clear how AI can contribute effectively to teaching and learning processes, since these processes are marked not only by cognitive characteristics, but also by cultural and emotional aspects. Having identified this gap, we conducted a qualitative study with students and teachers from four EU countries in order to find out what they know about the use of technologies and AI in education, what are their concrete needs and the recommendations of teachers on the pedagogical use of AI in education. This is a contribution to the gap identified by other authors in research on AI and education. This study gives voice to the participants and addresses the issue from the perspective of education. The results point to (1) A knowledge of the topic only from the perspective of users, (2) High expectations of the impact of AI on education (3) Recommendations of adapting AI to learning purposes, (4) Attention to guarantees of inclusion, citizenship, and democracy.},

Based on the input-output model and data envelopment analysis (DEA), this paper evaluates the eco-efficiency of 44 sectors in China with a new DEA model considering inter-sectoral linkages, then explores how the industrial network would be optimized as inefficient sectors become efficient under constant resources supply and constant final demand. The empirical results indicate that 22 sectors are inefficient and deserve further improvement. Inefficient sectors becoming efficient will drive the industrial network to evolve in a more intensive direction, and allow the economy to achieve greater economic benefits with less energy consumption and pollution. Accounting under constant resources supply suggests that increasing external demand should be a key to promoting environmental decoupling in the economy. Accounting under constant final demand indicates more stringent environmental regulations should be used to drive technology upgrades.},

abstract = {Statement of problem. The quality of the digital cast obtained from an intraoral scanner is an
important comparison parameter for computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing
(CAD-CAM) restorations. However, data on cast quality are typically provided by manufacturers,
and objective evaluation of these devices is lacking. Purpose. The purpose of this in vitro study was to build an evaluation protocol of 8 intraoral scanners by using an objective method for a small-scale model equivalent in size to a 4-tooth wide cast. In addition, a laboratory scanner was included to compare the performance of intraoral and extraoral devices.
Material and methods. An 8-mm-thick zirconia gauge block was scanned 10 times with a
laboratory scanner (Iscan D104) and 8 intraoral scanners (Omnicam, Primescan, Itero element 5D, CS 3600, TRIOS 3, Emerald, Planscan, and Medit i500). The obtained digital casts were extracted as standard tessellation language (STL) files and analyzed to evaluate the digitizing noise, dimensional trueness, and dimensional precision of each scanner. After validation of the normal distribution of the digitizing noise, dimensional trueness, and precision test results for each scanner with the Shapiro-Wilk test (a=.05), differences were determined with a 1-way ANOVA test. Results. Statistical differences were found between scanners (P<.05). The digitizing noise ranged from 3.2 ±0.6 mm with the Primescan to 15.5 ±2.5 mm with the Planscan. The dimensional trueness ranged from 19.1 ±11.5 mm for the CS3600 to 243.8 ±33.6 mm for the Planscan. The dimensional precision ranged from 7.7 ±2.4 mm for the Primescan to 53.7 ±3.4 mm for the Emerald. The group Iscan D104, Primescan, Itero 5D, CS3600, and TRIOS 3 showed minimally significant differences. Conclusions. Significant differences were found among the intraoral scanners for small-scale scans. The objective methodology of using a gauge block provided coherent and repeatable results.},

abstract = {Piping inspection robots play an essential role for industries as they can reduce the human effort and pose lesser risker to their lives. Generally, the locomotion techniques of these robots can be classified into mechanical and bioinspired. By using slot-follower leg mechanisms, DC-motors and control units, a rigid caterpillar type inspection robot was designed and developed at LS2N, France. This rigid prototype helped in identifying the static forces required to accomplish good contact forces with the pipeline walls. In order to work inside curvatures, a tensegrity mechanism that uses three tension springs and a passive universal joint was introduced between each module of this robot. The optimal parameters of the robot assembly were identified by considering a preloading along the cables, which ensured the stability of the entire robot. However, under static conditions, there exists some forces on the robot, especially on the tensegrity mechanism when one end of the leg mechanisms is clamped with the pipeline walls. These forces are dominant when the orientation of the pipeline is horizontal. The objective of this article is to understand the effect of stiffness of thespring on the static stability of the tensegrity mechanism under the self-weight of the robot assembly.},

abstract = {This paper proposes an approach for medical resource allocation among hospitals under public health emergencies based on data envelopment analysis (DEA). First, the DEA non-regressive production technology is adopted to ensure that the DMU can always refer to the most advanced production technology throughout all production periods. Based on the non-regressive production technology, two efficiency evaluation models are presented to calculate the efficiencies of DMUs before and after resource allocation. Our theoretical analysis shows that all the DMUs can be efficient after medical resource allocation, and thus a novel resource allocation possibility set is developed. Further, two objectives are considered and a bi-objective resource allocation model is developed. One objective is to maximize the output target realizability of the DMUs, while the other is to ensure the allocated resource to each DMU fits with its operation size, preperformance, and operation practice (i.e., proportion of critically ill patients). Additionally, a trade-off model is proposed to solve the bi-objective model to obtain the final resource allocation results. The proposed approach contributes by ensuring that the medical resources are allocated in such a way that they can all be efficiently used as well as considering multiple objectives and practical constraints that make the approach more fitted with the practical application scenarios. Finally, a case study of 30 hospitals in Wuhan during the COVID-19 epidemic is applied to illustrate the proposed approach.},

abstract = {In this article, we provide a new insight into overcoming resistance to emerging green technologies through mobile app users' environmental engagement. The use of a mobile recycling application is evaluated with regard to its media richness with a sample of 12 539 users in Italy. The research is developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when users have become more environmentally conscious and aware of plastic pollution. This time period has also seen an increase in the use of mobile applications, which provide social engagement and other benefits. Although it has encouraged new research on recycling behavior and how environmental messages are spread, as far as we know, no research has included a specific technology, such as mobile applications. Through the lens of consumer social media engagement behavior, it has emerged that media richness has a positive correlation with user engagement and recycling behavior. Theoretically, the research offers a novel technological tool worthy of further exploration in the fields of management and engineering. New practical insights are offered in terms of best practices for strengthening the relationships between companies and their clients. As users become more accustomed to social technologies, those technologies may help to establish responsible consumption patterns.},
