abstract = {This paper provides new evidence on the relationship between corporate tax avoidance, and investment inefficiency. Based on a sample of 82,487 firm-year observations across 38 countries, we find that tax avoidance is positively associated with inefficient investments. Particularly, the positive effect of corporate tax avoidance is due to the underinvestment problem suggesting that firms engaging in tax saving activities suffer from exacerbated information asymmetry issues leading them to underinvest. More importantly, the results show that the relationship between tax avoidance and investment inefficiency is more prevalent during crisis periods, suggesting that in periods of economic shortfalls, the investment behavior is altered due to high external financing cost. We also find that the relation between tax avoidance activities and investment inefficiency is less prevalent in countries with strong investor protection. These findings are robust to alternative samples, measures of tax avoidance, investor protection and to endogeneity issues.},

It also examines the mediating effects of customers' perceived flow and engagement between attitudes and customer's intention to use smartphone-based online gaming. Furthermore, customers' cognitive involvement was also examined as a moderator in between attitude and perceived flow. The data were analysed using a dual-stage hybrid method embedded with PLS-SEM and ANN. A sample of 688 smartphone-based online game players was surveyed, and the results support the notion that customers' attitudes, considered as a formative construct, significantly influence intention to use smartphone-based online gaming. The study further confirms that perceived flow and customer engagement mediate the relationship between attitudes and intention to use smartphone-based online gaming. The study also identifies the role of cognitive involvement as a significant moderator in between customers' attitudes and perceived flow. We thus provide a theoretical expression for the market information when log-prices follow either a fractional Brownian motion or its stationary extension using the Lamperti transform. In the latter model, we show that a Hurst exponent close to 1/2 can lead to a very high informativeness of the time series, because of the stationarity mechanism extcolor{red}{induced by the Lamperti transform. This result contrasts with the zero information of the fractional Brownian motion for the same value of the Hurst exponent.} In addition, we introduce a multiscale method to get a deeper interpretation of the entropy and of the market information, depending on the size of the information set. solely of humans, or of technology, but instead arises from an emergent interaction between
the two. This, emergent, account of agency deepens our understanding of unfolding IS practice,
but its largely cognitive orientation remains naïve towards affectively-sensed motivations that
also form part of this interaction. By implication, a sociomaterial perspective lacking an affective
dimension offers an incomplete conceptualisation of information systems. In response, an
affectively-informed negative ontology encourages IS researchers to extend their focus beyond the
visible, to encompass how actors' receptiveness towards material objects (discourses, technologies)
is shaped by deep, affectively-derived motivations of which they are not focally aware, but
which nonetheless acquire agency in contributing to a sociomaterial outcome. A central argument,
and illustrative empirical vignette, illustrate how the concepts of sociomateriality, affect,
and negative ontology combine to offer researchers an enhanced understanding of relational
agency. A discussion follows, exploring some initial ontological, epistemological and methodological
implications of an affectively-informed negative ontology for IS research.},

abstract = {Innovation is key to the economic performance of firms. However, several types of risks and uncertainties often lead to high failure rates in innovation projects, to the extent that failure is now considered a typical step in an innovation process. If innovation failure was provoking stress in the past, the current socio-economic contexts makes if it something to regularly deal with and learning from. However, there still is a dilemma on whether innovation failure should be considered as an opportunity or a trauma for the firm. Exploring the three steps of an innovation failure, that is identifying, analyzing and experimenting, the present research offers new insights on the nature of innovation failure at an individual and team levels. In particular, via an inductive approach this study provides fours key approaches to understanding innovation failure. First, we have uncovered a wide range of approaches to organizational management and ?Spaghetti' organizational models of innovation that perceive failure as an opportunity for the innovation process. Secondly, our study identified what seems to be a widespread perception of innovation failure as a trauma, which encourages the culture of openness to failure and to share knowledge of failing innovations. Such views apply not only at organizational but also at individual and team levels. Third, our results serve to encourage individuals, teams and organizations to find new ways to learn from failures in innovation projects, and to have a less centralized management and control over innovation. Fourth, in our perception of the domain, failure could become the ?new normal' and a mean to generate new knowledge. This stimulates new directions in the decision-making process, towards novel pathways to innovation.},

abstract = {Learning anatomy is a complex subject that requires a thorough understanding of 3D structures, posing challenges with traditional teaching methods. Anatomy education often involves the use of cadavers, which can be expensive, time-consuming, and ethically complex. As a result, medical educators need effective ways to engage students and promote learning. Immersive virtual reality (IVR) and serious games (SGs) provide innovative and immersive learning experiences that enhance students' understanding and retention of anatomical concepts and improve the effectiveness of anatomy education. This work aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of IVAL,11Immersive Virtual Anatomy Laboratory. an Immersive Virtual Anatomy Laboratory, for immersive and engaging learning experiences. A study involving dozens of University students assessed the efficacy of this innovative tool, resulting in high levels of satisfaction, success, and learning outcomes. IVAL was found to be an effective tool in promoting learning and retention of anatomical concepts, with participants highly rating the tool regarding engagement and learning enhancement. This study demonstrates that immersion in a 3D representation of the skeletal system through VR is essential for a deep knowledge of anatomical learning. These results have important implications for medical educators because IVR technologies can enhance student learning and improve the effectiveness of medical education.},

abstract = {The irregularity of the time interval between observations in and across the stream is a key factor that leads to a drop in performance when classical machine learning or deep learning models are used for a downstream task requiring multivariate time series. Indeed, irregular multivariate time series not only increase the rate of missing values but also lead to data sparsity, which consequently makes the data almost unleverageable and/or ineffective for models. To tackle this scorching challenge, most of the pioneering approaches apply imputation or interpolation in their core, which might lead to embedding data with noise. To especially address this irregular multivariate time series issue, we introduce, in this paper, a new deep neural network model called ALignment-driven Neural Network. The innovative idea of our model is to transform the irregular multivariate time series into pseudo-aligned (or pseudo-regular) latent values. The latter are shown as a matrix, where the coefficients are the latent values of each feature at user-defined reference time points that are evenly spaced. They are obtained through a duplication process driven by an exponential decay mechanism. The obtained output is then passed to a Recurrent Neural Network model, which is undoubtedly the must-use model for regular time series data. To show that our model added value, we looked at the Intensive Care Unit mortality prediction task. In this unit, the physiological measurements used to make decisions have a problem with time irregularity. Leveraging the publicly available MIMIC-III, we compare the performance of our model to that of flagship models. In addition, we also performed extensive ablation studies to highlight the importance of specific components in our model. Interestingly enough, whenever data is collected 24 and 48 h after a patient's admission, we outperform our pioneering competitors, i.e., +1.1% and +1.5% for the AUC score, +2.3% and for the AUPRC score and +0.6% and +1.7%
for the F1-score.},

results indicate a highly significant negative association between corruption and
green innovation. This supports the notion that corruption culture reduces corporate
legitimacy concerns (institutional theory), increases managerial rent-seeking (agency
theory), and hinders green innovation, thus impeding sustainable development and
supporting the ?sand the wheels? hypothesis. Our analysis also reveals that corruption's negative impact on green innovation is particularly significant for firms with
lower media and analyst coverage, non-state-owned firms, and firms in heavypolluting industries. These results are robust to alternate proxies of green innovation
and corruption as well as econometric specifications that account for endogeneity

Business organizations function under social norms, and to establish an ethical identity, they must show corporate ethical responsibility, embrace ethical standards, and maintain open communication with suppliers. While an organization's reputation is impacted by the absence of an ethical identity, its financial success is unaffected. Extant literature has not thrown a spotlight on social and environmental performance which indicates that less focus has been given by academics than by practitioners. To fill the lacuna in the existing literature, this study examines the relationships between corporate ethical identity, corporate brand identity, social and environmental performance. The study uses a deductive research approach and develops hypotheses which are further tested using variance based structural equation modeling. The study offers a distinctive contribution to ethics theory and stakeholder theory by showing that developing an ethical identity requires more than just adhering to moral guidelines and upholding open communication. Companies must show that they are ethically responsible towards society. The study provides evidence of the influence corporate brand identity has on environmental and social performance. Stakeholders (for instance, community stakeholders) have been observed to be unaware of the focal firm's circular supply chain activities. Because this gap has not been generally reflected in the literature, it is critical to perform an empirical study to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The goal of this research was to determine whether new technologies such as big data and predictive analytics might influence an organization's propensity to share information related to circular economy practices with stakeholders as well as to increase connectivity with those stakeholders in the Industry 4.0 era. We also investigated whether these actions could increase stakeholder trust and engagement and social sustainability as a result. We tested our theoretical model using samples from food supply chain firms in South Africa. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted using WarpPLS 7.0 software. The findings show that firms that deploy big data and predictive analytics are more likely to share information related to the circular economy with stakeholders and that these firms are also well-connected with those stakeholders, resulting in increased trust and engagement. This, in turn, contributes to the social sustainability of supply chains. Our research has made a significant contribution by encouraging a theoretical debate regarding the willingness to share information regarding the circular economy and the social sustainability of the supply chain.},

However, there is a scarcity of research studies that offer guidance to top supply chain (SC) executives, aiming to enhance their environmental focus and enhance the SC viability through regenerative SC practices. This study employed the philosophical perspective of the natural resource-based view. Advancing the SC literature, it tested a theoretical model to investigate the relationship between the political skills and SC analytics skills of top SC executives and the environmental orientation of SCs. Additionally, it examined the direct and indirect (via regenerative SC) relationships between a firm's environmental orientation and SC viability. This study also tested the moderating role of a firm's artificial intelligence-driven big data analytics culture in these relationships. Applying a mixed-methods approach, the study derived a theoretical model to link the aforementioned constructs. Apart from a qualitative investigation, data were also collected through a questionnaire-based survey from 375 samples. The results indicated that the relationship between the political skills and SC analytics skills of top SC executives toward the environmental orientation of SCs is significant. Furthermore, they indicated that a firm's environmental orientation is positively related to a regenerative SC, which in turn enhances SC viability. The findings also provided evidence that a firm's AI-driven big data analytics culture enhances the strength of these relationships. The current study extends the knowledge base by integrating the two unique concepts of digitalization and circular economy.},

Based on a thematic analysis of 7,234 comments posted on the Yoga with Adriene YouTube channel in 2020, this study unpacks a technologically mediated practice of self-care, which we conceptualize as somametamnemata. Our findings illustrate three entangled aspects of somametamnemata relating to yoga, a form of bodywork: Caring about self through practicing yoga online; caring about self and others through sharing about yoga in written comments; and caring about self and others through responding to shared verbalizations of yoga. By situating the potentiality of individual wellbeing within ill-being, we shift debates and discussions of ?corporate wellness? beyond organizational boundaries.},

Studies in the past have shown that firms haven't been able to gain a long-term competitive advantage by using environmental strategies. Hence, the research analyses how 371 B2B firms from developed and emerging European countries achieve competitive advantage through green marketing strategies. Additionally, those firms are also assessed in reference to their level of engagement with environmental, social, and governance strategies. Our findings highlight that the more the engagement in green marketing by B2B firms, the greater the green competitive advantage that B2B firms in developed European markets can achieve. Hence, the study explores the relationship of B2B marketing, environmental sustainability, and corporate profitability, providing insights into how European firms can balance their financial objectives with their social and environmental responsibilities. The originality of the research stressed the need to pursue social and environmental goals and to preserve the future of people, planet, and profit through green marketing strategies. Investing in future business models and green competitive advantage is especially important for B2B European emerging firms' markets.},

abstract = {In recent in vitro experiments on co-culture between breast tumour spheroids and activated immune cells, it was observed that the introduction of the stress hormone cortisol
resulted in a decreased immune cell infiltration into the spheroids. Moreover, the presence of cortisol deregulated the normal levels of the pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines IFN-?
and IL-10. We present an individual-based model to explore the interaction dynamics between tumour and immune cells under psychological stress conditions. With our model,
we explore the processes underlying the emergence of different levels of immune infiltration,
with particular focus on the biological mechanisms regulated by IFN-? and IL-10. The set-up of numerical simulations is defined to mimic the scenarios considered in the experimental
study. Similarly to the experimental quantitative analysis, we compute a score that quantifies the level of immune cell infiltration into the tumour. The results of numerical simulations indicate that the motility of immune cells, their capability to infiltrate through
tumour cells, their growth rate and the interplay between these cell parameters can affect the level of immune cell infiltration in different ways. Ultimately, numerical simulations
of this model support a deeper understanding of the impact of biological stress-induced mechanisms on immune infiltration.},

Based on a panel of firms listed in 42 countries from 2002 to 2019, we document a positively significant (insignificant) relationship between the presence of a sustainability committee and waste generation (waste recycling). In terms of the composition, we find that firms with large committee size and gender diversity (committee tenure and independence) generate less (more) waste. Our analysis also indicates that firms with gender-diverse committees are more likely to recycle their waste. Our findings are robust to alternative estimation techniques and variable specifications, sub-sample analyses, and different identification strategies. This study provides new insights into the structure of the sustainability committee and informs stakeholders and regulators about impression management by firms across countries.},

abstract = {A time fractional-step method is presented for numerical solutions of the incompressible non-Newtonian fluids for which the viscosity is non-linear depending on the shear-rate magnitude according to a generic model. The method belongs to a class of viscosity-splitting procedures and it consists of separating the convection term and incompressibility constraint into two time steps. Unlike the conventional projection methods, the viscosity is not dropped in the last step allowing to enforce the full original boundary conditions on the end-of-step velocity which eliminates any concerns about the numerical boundary layers. We carry out a rigorous error analysis and provide a full first-order error estimate for both the velocity and pressure solutions in the relevant norms. Numerical results are presented for two test examples of non-
Newtonian fluid flows to demonstrate the theoretical analysis and confirm the reliability of this viscosity-splitting scheme.},

The theoretical framework is integrated with the institutional theory and the resource-based view (RBV). The empirical method is used for collecting data through surveys and further covariance-based structural equation modeling is used to test the hypotheses. Findings indicate that carbon-neutral-based government policies have a stronger influence on tangible resources and human skills than intangible resources related to Industry 4.0 driven smart manufacturing. Second, carbon-neutral policy alignment with the firm's sustainability objectives plays a moderating effect on the relationship between carbon-neutral-based government policies and resources (tangible, intangible resources and human skills) for Industry 4.0 driven smart manufacturing. Lastly, the three resources (tangible, intangible resources and human skills) for Industry 4.0 driven smart manufacturing play a critical role in developing firms' carbon-neutral capability and further enhancing operational performance. Managerial implications include investment in advanced digital technologies, developing a strong mindset among employees and supply chain stakeholders, and designing training programs for enhancing smart manufacturing performance to develop carbon-neutrality capability. This study proposes a hybrid theory in the context of carbon neutrality by integrating institutional theory and RBV. This is the first study that examines the effect of carbon neutrality-based government policies on vital Industry 4.0-driven smart manufacturing resources and the indirect effect on carbon neutrality capability and operational performance.},

Driven by social cognitive theory, we explored whether self-efficacy, perceived benefits, and concerns (social, entertainment, health, and economic) relate to the intention of the audience to cook at home following the recipes an Instagram influencer provides. We conducted three separate studies (two surveys and one experiment) with a French population of social network platform users. Our results showed that the entertainment value of an observed behavior is the main driver for imitation on social media, along with self-efficacy, at least for women. Mixed results were obtained for social benefits. The perceived ease of the recipe, cooking experience, and explicit verbal encouragement were positively related to self-efficacy. Surprisingly, the effect of health and economic benefits or concerns and labeling was not confirmed.},

In this connection, observers' silence might function as a mediator, and leader-member exchange quality could moderate the process. The tests of these predictions rely on two studies, undertaken in Pakistan: a temporally separated field study using three-wave data (N = 219) and a scenario-based experiment (N = 118). The combined results indicate that employees feel guilty for remaining silent when they witness supervisor ostracism of other colleagues. The positive relationship between such observations of supervisor ostracism and silence behavior is more pronounced among employees who enjoy high-quality relationships with their supervisor. In addition to establishing key theoretical insights, this article alerts organizations to a critical mechanism (silence to avoid upsetting supervisors) by which employees' observations of how supervisors ostracize others can escalate into their own sense of guilt.},

abstract = {Research Question/Issue
We investigate the impact of board co-option on corporate environmental orientation from the perspective of waste management. As waste presents damaging effects on the natural environment, climate change, and human health, businesses assume an ethical responsibility to conduct their operations in a sustainable and responsible manner.
Research Findings/Insights
Employing firm-level waste production data, we document a significant negative relationship between board co-option and waste generation, suggesting that co-opted directors help firms reduce their waste?a finding that also carries economic significance. The cross-sectional analyses reveal that the relationship only holds when a CEO does not chair the board and has a shorter tenure. Furthermore, we find that the board co-option-waste management relationship is stronger in environmentally sensitive industries and is mainly driven by the manufacturing firms. We perform a battery of analyses to rule out endogeneity concerns and check for the robustness of our results. The channel test reveals that CEOs of firms with higher waste management face lower performance-induced turnover, particularly when working with co-opted boards. Finally, we also find that co-option-induced waste management initiatives ultimately increase firms' economic value.
Theoretical/Academic Implications
We document that co-opted boards may enhance firms' waste management practices by reducing performance-induced CEO turnover. Thus, we make important contributions to the corporate governance and environmentalism strands of the literature by highlighting the bright side of board co-option for waste reduction initiatives.
Practitioner/Policy Implications
Our study provides vital policy implications for regulators and top management teams against the background of public outcry and social pressure to mitigate the damage to the environment and calls for ethical business practices.},

abstract = {Manufacturing processes signifcantly infuence microstructural variations in short fber reinforced composites, which afect
damage characteristics and fatigue life. Accurate fatigue life prediction is critical, especially when considering the impact
of these manufacturing induced microstructural nuances. In this study, we investigate how manufacturing processes shape
microstructures and their impact on fatigue life prediction. We present an advanced micromechanical model for predicting
fatigue life in tangible structures, considering the microstructure distribution infuenced by manufacturing dynamics. Our
model links damage from monotonic loading to fatigue life, resulting in a multi-scale fatigue prediction model. This approach
builds a database revealing the interaction between Tsai-Wu failure criterion parameters, manufacturing-induced microstructural variations, and target fatigue life. Using these insights, we fne-tune material properties in fnite element simulations for
precise design optimization. We illustrate our method using an automotive tailgate made from a sheet molding compound.
This research highlights the critical role of manufacturing processes in microstructure variation and fatigue life prediction.
It ofers the potential for signifcant vehicle weight reduction, energy savings, and reduced emissions in automotive design
and promises to be a valuable tool for optimizing manufacturing process parameters.},

The RD measurements were carried out using a rheometer set-up and different vane-blade types rotating at different speeds. According to the experimental results, the RD values were found in good agreement with the workability of the investigated mixtures. Moreover, the RD values were well correlated with the coupled effect of the relative solid packing fraction of coarse aggregate (?/?max) and viscoplastic properties of the investigated CVC mixtures. Furthermore, a strong correlation was established between the rheological properties of the lubrication layer, RD values, and the ?/?max of coarse aggregate.},

While IS literature has separately developed theories on conflicts and conflict contagion, we conceptualize a whole theoretic system we call "IT Conflict Contagion" (IT-CC). This theory is used as a driver for a 2-year action research project conducted at a French management consulting firm during the second attempt of its Business Intelligence (BI) tool baptized ?PMT.? While most MIS methods tend to manage conflicts within the boundaries of an IT project, we emphasize the need for a comprehensive understanding of past IT implementations and their impact on subsequent projects despite the different aims, designs, and functionalities of these IT systems. This research calls for IS researchers and practitioners to adopt a holistic conflict management perspective, considering the IT portfolio and the interplay between various IT systems to ensure successful IT implementation.},

Here, we highlight (i) the pressing need for robust research on this topic, (ii) the inadequacy of existing guidelines from the International Commission for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, which solely address human health, and (iii) the lack of attention given to wildlife exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic field levels when creating and/or restoring wildlife habitats and deploying new radiofrequency electromagnetic field sources. We call for a common worldwide agenda that would prioritize research on wildlife exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields and for an independent international organization to address this issue. Finally, we provide key recommendations aimed at reducing wildlife exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields while awaiting further evidence.},

abstract = {Purpose - This study investigates how employees' experience of resource-depleting workplace loneliness
may steer them away from performance-enhancing work efforts as informed by their propensity to engage in
negative work rumination. It also addresses whether and how religiosity might serve as a buffer of this harmful
dynamic.
Design/methodology/approach - The hypotheses tests rely on three-round survey data collected among
employees who work in various organizations in Pakistan - a relevant country context, considering the
importance of people's religious faith for their professional functioning and its high-uncertainty avoidance and
collectivism, which likely make workplace loneliness a particularly upsetting experience.
Findings - An important channel through which a sense of being abandoned at work compromises job
performance is that employees cannot ?switch off? and stop thinking about work, even after hours. The role of
this explanatory mechanism is mitigated, however, when employees can draw from their religious beliefs.
Practical implications - For human resource (HR) managers, this study pinpoints a notable intrusion into
the personal realm, namely, repetitive thinking about work-related issues, through which perceptions of workrelated
loneliness translate into a reluctance to contribute to organizational effectiveness with productive work
activities. It also showcases how this translation can be subdued with personal resources that enable employees
to contain the hardships they have experienced.
Originality/value - This study helps unpack the connection between workplace loneliness and job
performance by detailing the unexplored roles of two important factors (negative work rumination and
religiosity) in this connection.

We apply a multi-methods research design, including qualitative research conducted within a selection of museums in France, an intercept study at Le Louvre Museum (Paris, France) and finally an online survey. Our findings concurrently put forward the concept of social mediation and illustrate the changing role of museum mediation processes that imply the transformation of visitor experience from a receptive format (consuming informative and entertaining content) to an interactive and collaborative format, through the use of social media and other ICT tools deployed and used complementarily to fulfill visitors needs and gratifications and foster what we call the visitor ?omni-visit experience'. Based on a sample of French-listed companies, the results show that board gender diversity enhances both types of innovation. This finding suggests that women on boards focus on both firm's competitive advantage and sustainability while engaging in innovative activities. These results are more prevalent for female independent directors and in the voluntary approach of appointing women on boards. The results also show that gender diversity among executives, particularly the Chief financial officer (CFO) position, is associated with an increase in corporate and green innovation. This result suggests that companies should consider top management gender diversity to break the glass ceiling phenomenon which means actively recruiting and promoting women to leadership positions as part of their overall innovation strategy.},

abstract = {Ice slurry is an alternative method to reduce the quantity and emission of greenhouse refrigerants, as well as control electrical energy consumption. However, the production of ice slurry requires the use of scraped-surface generators, which are costly to maintain and consume high mechanical energy. Therefore, studying the icephobic behavior of surfaces is of interest to significantly reduce ice adhesion and facilitate detachment without the need for mechanical scrapers. This study focuses on the growth, adhesion, and detachment phenomena of ice by liquid jets on different types of surfaces (hydrophilic, hydrophobic, and superhydrophobic) immersed in a 10 wt% ethanol/water mixture. A liquid jet is used to detach the ice layer from the surfaces, with a velocity ranging from 0 to 2.87 m s?1, and the surface temperature varies from 25 °C to approximately -9 °C. The results show that ice adheres less to hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces compared to superhydrophobic surfaces. The use of PTFE-treated aluminum surfaces (hydrophobic) reduces the required flow velocity to detach the ice layer by half compared to untreated aluminum surfaces (hydrophilic). An ANSYS® Fluent numerical model was developed to simulate the evolution of turbulent velocities of immersed liquid jets, and a semi-empirical model was designed to estimate the detachment forces of soft ice from hydrophilic surfaces (untreated aluminum). Two types of ice detachment from surfaces were identified: adhesive detachment and cohesive detachment.},

A great deal of works has studied candidate constructions that are secure against quantum attackers, which are based on either lattice assumptions, or post-quantum collision-resistant hash functions. In this paper, we propose a code-based zk-SNARK scheme, whose security is based on the rank support learning (RSL) problem, a variant of the random linear code decoding problem in the rank metric.
Our construction follows the general framework of Gennaro et al. (CCS'18), which is based on square span programs (SSPs). Due to the fundamental differences between the hardness assumptions, our proof of security cannot apply the techniques from the lattice-based constructions, and indeed, it distinguishes itself by the use of techniques from coding theory. We also provide the scheme with a set of concrete parameters.},
