Surajit Bag

Dr. Surajit Bag currently holds the position of Associate Professor and serves as the Head of the MSc Supply Chain Program at EMLV Business School, located within Léonard de Vinci Pôle Universitaire in Paris, France. In addition to his role at EMLV, he also holds the position of Visiting Associate Professor within the Department of Transport and Supply Chain Management at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. Prior to his academic pursuits, Dr. Surajit garnered eleven years of experience in distinguished manufacturing industries, where he held various senior positions, including the role of Section Head: Supply Chain at a prominent manufacturing unit based in South Africa. Dr. Surajit's educational journey encompasses two Ph.D. degrees. He earned his second Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the esteemed Postgraduate School of Engineering Management at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa (QS World University rankings 2024: 306). His first Ph.D. was accomplished in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the School of Business at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in India (QS World University rankings 2024: 901-950). With a research portfolio of notable distinction, Dr. Surajit has contributed to esteemed journals ranked as ABS-3 and FNEGE-1. His published works encompass a range of influential publications, including the International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Transportation Research: Part E, Industrial Marketing Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Research, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Annals of Operations Research, Information Systems Frontiers and Production Planning & Control. His research primarily centres around the realm of Supply Chain Sustainability, a focus that has led to over 6000 citations of his scientific contributions, as documented by Google Scholar. Recognizing his substantial contributions to the field of management research, Dr Surajit was honored with the "AIMS-IRMA Young Management Researcher Award 2016." His standing in the academic community was further solidified by his inclusion in Stanford University's comprehensive study titled "World's Top 2% Scientists," released in October 2021, 2022 and 2023. This extensive study evaluated 22 major fields and 172 subfields to identify the most impactful researchers. Adding to his accolades, Dr. Surajit was bestowed the Emerald Literati Award in 2022, specifically in the category of outstanding reviewer, by the ?Journal of Enterprise Information Management? and ?The TQM Journal?. Beyond this, he actively contributes as an Associate Editor for esteemed journals including the International Journal of Logistics Management and the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing (both of which are ABDC-A ranked journals, published by Emerald). Dr. Surajit has successfully supervised two MPhil students in Engineering Management as the main supervisor at the University of Johannesburg, guiding them through the completion of their dissertations and the publication of their work in reputable journals. Currently, he is co- supervising six MPhil students in Engineering Management from the University of Johannesburg, in addition to supervising four PhD students from India and New Zealand. In conclusion, Dr. Surajit Bag's multifaceted accomplishments and far-reaching contributions underscore his impactful presence within the realms of academia, research, and editorial endeavors.
