Dr. Surajit Bag currently holds the position of Associate Professor and serves as the Head of the MSc Supply Chain Program at EMLV Business School, located within Léonard de Vinci Pôle Universitaire in Paris, France. In addition to his role at EMLV, he also holds the position of Visiting Associate Professor within the Department of Transport and Supply Chain Management at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. Prior to his academic pursuits, Dr. Surajit garnered eleven years of experience in distinguished manufacturing industries, where he held various senior positions, including the role of Section Head: Supply Chain at a prominent manufacturing unit based in South Africa. Dr. Surajit's educational journey encompasses two Ph.D. degrees. He earned his second Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the esteemed Postgraduate School of Engineering Management at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa (QS World University rankings 2024: 306). His first Ph.D. was accomplished in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the School of Business at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in India (QS World University rankings 2024: 901-950). With a research portfolio of notable distinction, Dr. Surajit has contributed to esteemed journals ranked as ABS-3 and FNEGE-1. His published works encompass a range of influential publications, including the International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Transportation Research: Part E, Industrial Marketing Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Research, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Annals of Operations Research, Information Systems Frontiers and Production Planning & Control. His research primarily centres around the realm of Supply Chain Sustainability, a focus that has led to over 6000 citations of his scientific contributions, as documented by Google Scholar. Recognizing his substantial contributions to the field of management research, Dr Surajit was honored with the "AIMS-IRMA Young Management Researcher Award 2016." His standing in the academic community was further solidified by his inclusion in Stanford University's comprehensive study titled "World's Top 2% Scientists," released in October 2021, 2022 and 2023. This extensive study evaluated 22 major fields and 172 subfields to identify the most impactful researchers. Adding to his accolades, Dr. Surajit was bestowed the Emerald Literati Award in 2022, specifically in the category of outstanding reviewer, by the ?Journal of Enterprise Information Management? and ?The TQM Journal?. Beyond this, he actively contributes as an Associate Editor for esteemed journals including the International Journal of Logistics Management and the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing (both of which are ABDC-A ranked journals, published by Emerald). Dr. Surajit has successfully supervised two MPhil students in Engineering Management as the main supervisor at the University of Johannesburg, guiding them through the completion of their dissertations and the publication of their work in reputable journals. Currently, he is co- supervising six MPhil students in Engineering Management from the University of Johannesburg, in addition to supervising four PhD students from India and New Zealand. It also examines the mediating effects of customers' perceived flow and engagement between attitudes and customer's intention to use smartphone-based online gaming. The data were analysed using a dual-stage hybrid method embedded with PLS-SEM and ANN. A sample of 688 smartphone-based online game players was surveyed, and the results support the notion that customers' attitudes, considered as a formative construct, significantly influence intention to use smartphone-based online gaming. However, firms can make substantial progress by adopting regenerative approaches grounded in circular economy principles, enabling them to effectively pursue sustainable development objectives such as responsible production and consumption (goal 12), climate action (goal 13), and the preservation of life on land (goal 15). However, there is a scarcity of research studies that offer guidance to top supply chain (SC) executives, aiming to enhance their environmental focus and enhance the SC viability through regenerative SC practices. This study employed the philosophical perspective of the natural resource-based view. Advancing the SC literature, it tested a theoretical model to investigate the relationship between the political skills and SC analytics skills of top SC executives and the environmental orientation of SCs. Additionally, it examined the direct and indirect (via regenerative SC) relationships between a firm's environmental orientation and SC viability. This study also tested the moderating role of a firm's artificial intelligence-driven big data analytics culture in these relationships. Applying a mixed-methods approach, the study derived a theoretical model to link the aforementioned constructs. Apart from a qualitative investigation, data were also collected through a questionnaire-based survey from 375 samples. The results indicated that the relationship between the political skills and SC analytics skills of top SC executives toward the environmental orientation of SCs is significant. Furthermore, they indicated that a firm's environmental orientation is positively related to a regenerative SC, which in turn enhances SC viability. The findings also provided evidence that a firm's AI-driven big data analytics culture enhances the strength of these relationships. The current study extends the knowledge base by integrating the two unique concepts of digitalization and circular economy.},

abstract = {Although the circular economy is commonly used among industries in developing countries to achieve carbon neutrality targets, its impact on social sustainability must be clarified. Stakeholders (for instance, community stakeholders) have been observed to be unaware of the focal firm's circular supply chain activities. Because this gap has not been generally reflected in the literature, it is critical to perform an empirical study to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The goal of this research was to determine whether new technologies such as big data and predictive analytics might influence an organization's propensity to share information related to circular economy practices with stakeholders as well as to increase connectivity with those stakeholders in the Industry 4.0 era. We also investigated whether these actions could increase stakeholder trust and engagement and social sustainability as a result. We tested our theoretical model using samples from food supply chain firms in South Africa. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted using WarpPLS 7.0 software. The findings show that firms that deploy big data and predictive analytics are more likely to share information related to the circular economy with stakeholders and that these firms are also well-connected with those stakeholders, resulting in increased trust and engagement. This, in turn, contributes to the social sustainability of supply chains. Our research has made a significant contribution by encouraging a theoretical debate regarding the willingness to share information regarding the circular economy and the social sustainability of the supply chain.},

Extant literature has not thrown a spotlight on social and environmental performance which indicates that less focus has been given by academics than by practitioners. The study uses a deductive research approach and develops hypotheses which are further tested using variance based structural equation modeling. The study offers a distinctive contribution to ethics theory and stakeholder theory by showing that developing an ethical identity requires more than just adhering to moral guidelines and upholding open communication. Companies must show that they are ethically responsible towards society. The study provides evidence of the influence corporate brand identity has on environmental and social performance. abstract = {The effect of green human resource management (GHRM) practices on employees' environmental engagement, attitudes, and behaviors is well-known. What is less known is which GHRM practices can have a positive influence on achieving green performance through the mediating role played by people's engagement. To address the research gaps, this study used mixed-method research design. In Phase 1, this study focused on the advanced manufacturing context of Italy by surveying 540 managers to develop a multiple regression model and test six different GHRM practices as the hypotheses. In Phase 2, qualitative data analysis was analyzed. Our findings highlighted that GHRM practices connected with awards and compensations did not affect green performance. Conversely, a correlation was observed between achieving green performance and practices such as training, aligning management with the company's strategic environmental goals and objectives, involving managers in the process of defining the goals and objectives, and the green reputation of the company and the managers who can act as environmentally responsible leaders. This study extends social exchange theory and opens new avenues for further research and proposes several practical suggestions for practitioners.},

abstract = {Rapid industrialization and global supply chains have magnified industrial activities' carbon footprint, resulting in environmental hazards. Several countries have magnified their efforts to reach carbon neutrality goals. The increased attention to carbon-neutral goals has been enabled by United Nations (UN) calls for a carbon-neutral economy. In this context, supply chains will have greater responsibilities to reduce the network's carbon footprint. To achieve carbon neutrality goals, decision-makers must be well-informed and facilitated with suitable theoretical frameworks. In literature, the adoption of intelligent technologies is suggested to construct efficient and smart supply chains. However, there are uncertainties regarding the impact of this transformation on the carbon neutrality goal. The present study caters to the uncertainties by discussing its potential impact on carbon neutrality goals and how to use adopted technologies to achieve the same. A list of 11 potential strategies is identified and modelled to provide a strategic roadmap for smart supply chains' adoption. The proposed framework aims to facilitate carbon neutrality goals. Lastly, the three resources (tangible, intangible resources and human skills) for Industry 4.0 driven smart manufacturing play a critical role in developing firms' carbon-neutral capability and further enhancing operational performance. This study explores the relationship between the information quality, system quality, and service quality of blockchain-enabled smart contracts (BSCs) with collaboration quality to achieve net-zero emissions. The study further explores the role of collaboration quality in influencing the intention-to-use BSC and organizational satisfaction. The study employed the revised DeLone and McLean model and validated it with data from 434 respondents using structural equation modeling. The results validate all the hypotheses derived from the updated DeLone and McLean information system (IS) success model. There exist significant relationships between information quality, system quality, and service quality in the BSCs leading to collaboration quality to achieve net-zero emissions. The study establishes the significant role of collaboration quality which positively impacts usage behavior and organizational satisfaction, mediated by the intention to use. abstract = {There are various kinds of applications of BDA in the firms. Not many studies are there which deal with the impact of BDA towards issues like forecasting, decision-making, as well as performance of the firms simultaneously. So, there exists a gap in the research. In such a background, this study aims at examining the impacts of BDA on the process of decision-making, forecasting, as well as firm performance. Using resource-based view (RBV) as well as dynamic capability view (DCV) and related research studies, a research model was proposed conceptually. This conceptual model was validated taking help of PLS-SEM approach considering 366 respondents from Indian firms. This study has highlighted that smart decision making and accurate forecasting process can be achieved by using BDA. This research has demonstrated that there is a considerable influence of adoption of BDA on decision making process, forecasting process, as well as overall firm performance. However, the present study suffers from the fact that the study results depend on the cross-sectional data which could invite defects of causality and endogeneity bias. The present research work also found that there is no impact of different control variables on the firm's performance.},

abstract = {Drawing on institutional theory and the dynamic capability view, this research explores the relationship between climate change adaptation (CCA) capability and firm performance and the mediating role of the marketing capability of a business-to-business (B2B) firm. To test the theoretical model developed in this study, data are collected from a developed country (Australia) and a developing country (South Africa) using the survey method. The study is important from two perspectives: (a) it is one of the first to analyze the impact of institutional pressures on building CCA capability, and (b) it reveals that marketing capability functions as a partial mediator and aids CCA capability in improving B2B firm performance. The unique contribution of this study is its emphasis on identifying the key elements required for exceptional B2B firm performance amid climate change. The study provides insights into the specific aspects that drive success in this setting by examining institutional pressures and B2B firms' CCA capability, marketing capability, and performance. The study contributes by employing two organizational theories (i.e., institutional theory and the dynamic capability view) to explain the underlying mechanisms underpinning improved B2B business performance amid climate change.},

abstract = {To reduce carbon emissions and enable sustainable development goals, electric vehicles need to be promoted. As an evolving area of study, significant research gaps exist in the electric vehicle supply chain literature, especially in terms of competition, game structures, decision variables, green investment, etc. This paper considers two competing electric vehicle supply chains with one manufacturer and one retailer under each supply chain. The supply chain members are profit-maximizing in nature. Here, the manufacturers decide on the wholesale price and green level of the product, whereas the retailers or distributors decide on the retail selling price. The market demand is price-sensitive and also positively related to consumers' green awareness and brand reputation of green products. Nevertheless, the green level comes with a price in the form of green investment for the manufacturer. Therefore, the manufacturer makes a tradeoff between the increased revenue due to greener electric vehicle technologies and the associated green investments. This paper derived the optimal decisions for the supply chain following three game-theoretical approaches. Three game scenarios represent the dynamic power structures of the market. The overall results are presented via four propositions and twelve corollaries, along with proofs. Furthermore, numerical simulations have been conducted to gain further insights into the sensitivities of the optimal actions with respect to self-price, competitor price, green level, and green investment. The overall study may assist electric vehicle businesses in having a better understanding of optimal pricing and green investment strategies under a variety of market scenarios.},

abstract = {Most parts of the world have suffered the negative impacts from extreme weather events, in whatever form they may take. To mitigate such impacts, attention in the operations management literature has focused on how firms build resilience in their supply chains, in order to quickly respond to such events and also to return, as soon as possible, to a business-as-usual state. Prior studies have examined the process of building a supply chain (SC) in different countries, industries and in response to various disruptions, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, whilst, at the same time, calling for further research in different contexts. We respond to these calls by exploring SC resilience ability in the South African mining industry under extreme weather events. We situated our study in the dynamic capability view (DCV) view of the firm. We examined the direct effect of big data and predictive analytics (BDPA) capabilities on SC visibility and the final effects on community and resource resilience. We adopted a sequential mixed methods research design, collecting data from interviews with 10 industry practitioners and from 219 respondents to an online survey. We built and tested our theoretical model using partial least squares structured equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Notable theoretical contributions of our study are that big data enables a more efficient supply chain monitoring system, which, in turn, improves SC visibility. BDPA capability improves a company's ability to make the best use of its available resources. It improves the South African mining industry's dynamic capability, allowing them to adjust their strategies in response to diverse adverse weather conditions. Furthermore, BDPA capability's ability to improve SC visibility is enhanced when there is strong alignment between BDPA strategy and initiatives. Finally, having a high level of SC visibility helps develop community and resource resilience, which are necessary to ensure that firms in the industry fulfil their responsibilities in relation to social sustainability.},

abstract = {Industry 4.0 technologies provide digital solutions for the automation of manufacturing. In circular economy-based models, the resources stay in the system as it experiences one of the 10 R (Refuse, Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose, Recycle, and Recover) processes. These 10 R processes require the development of advanced manufacturing capabilities; however, 10 R processes suffer from various challenges and can be effectively overcome through Industry 4.0 technological applications. Although literature has indicated the use of various Industry 4.0 technologies, little information is available about firms' views on the degree of Industry 4.0 application in the 10 R based advanced manufacturing area and its ability to achieve sustainable development. The current study aspires to examine how great an effect Industry 4.0 adoption has on 10 R advanced manufacturing capabilities and its outcome on sustainable development under the moderating effect of an Industry 4.0 delivery system. Practice-based view and Dynamic capability view theories are used to conceptualise the theoretical model. The research team statistically validated the theoretical model considering 124 data points that were collected using an online survey with a structured questionnaire. The findings point out that the path degree of Industry 4.0 adoption and 10 R advanced manufacturing capabilities are statistically significant. 10 R advanced manufacturing capabilities are found to have a positive influence on sustainable development outcomes. Industry 4.0 delivery system has a moderating effect on the path degree of I4.0 implementation and 10 R advanced manufacturing capabilities. The study concludes with key take away points for managers.},
