abstract = {This study attempts to add to the small body of existing literature relating Chief executive officer characteristics to earnings management. Our research was carried out on 153 French listed companies during 2008. Using discretionary accruals as a proxy for earnings management, we found a significant positive relationship between CEO characteristics and earnings management. This suggests that since reputed CEOs are well compensated, they are more afraid to lose thier compensation level, and their incentive to manipulate their firm's earnings therefore increases. Findings also indicate that the dual CEO-chair relationship encourages CEOs to manage earnings, particularly when CEO-chairs hold the major proportion of equity in the firm. This finding suggests that CEO-chairs use their managerial power and the freedom from control to extract private yields. Finally, we present new on the relationship between CEO expertise and earnings management, showing that expertise positively affects CEO's behavior leading to their using agressive earnings management},

In our work, foreign companies are foreign-owned companies (multinational or global) that operate in the Russian market and their headquarters are located outside the Russian Federation. Attention is paid to the analysis of the factors that support talent management implementation. As the results of the research are based on a comparative analysis of differences and peculiarities in talent practices in Russian and foreign companies, the paper explores and provides a number of ideas and conclusions about talent management elaboration, realization and talent practices improvement in the Russian context. Our data show that talent management practices are influenced by a number of factors that are different, in parts, in Russian and foreign companies. Supplementary analysis also suggests that the positive connection between talent management efforts and a company's performance can be found.},

We provide closed-form solution for different products and two multivariate Wishart-based stochastic volatility models. The methodology turns out to be independent of the dimension of the problem. Overall, our results highlight the great flexibility and tractability of Wishart-based stochastic volatility models to develop multivariate extensions of the Heston model.},

abstract = {Firms currently face numerous challenges when they operate abroad. To overcome these challenges many researchers define a set of vital factors that influence companies' successful operations in international markets. Among others, an important factor is the competencies of the top management team (TMT), which significantly influence an organisation's results. Currently, there is a lack of studies either observing the role of TMTs' competencies when a company decides to operate internationally or proving that a top manager's competencies are related to a firm's performance. To fill that gap, this paper explores how a TMT's competencies are associated with the realisation of a firm's international operations. The findings indicate that there is a strong correlation between top management competencies and the successful realisation of a firm's operations in international markets. Moreover, the evidence suggests that the most significant competencies for this are superior cognitive and analytical capabilities, ability to create and to use foreign contacts, project aptitude, and ability to create multicultural interaction. The research is based on the evidence of Russian companies operating in foreign markets.},

In this paper, we present a numerical method to approximate the optimal strategy of a trader willing to unwind a large portfolio. The method we propose is very general as it can be applied to multi-asset portfolios with any form of execution costs, including a bid-ask spread component, even when participation constraints are imposed. Our method, based on convex duality, only requires Hamiltonian functions to have C1,1 regularity while classical methods require additional regularity and cannot be applied to all cases found in practice.},

abstract = {Despite the growing public concern in recent years about the place of women in business, gender diversity in corporate governance has made little progress. As a consequence, the issue has captured the worldwide attention of policymakers. Several countries are currently adopting or considering the adoption of laws or regulations to promote gender diversity on corporate boards. The purpose of this paper is to compare the effectiveness of using legislative or regulatory means to increase female representation instead of allowing firms to voluntarily fix their own non?legally binding targets. We find that the relation between gender diversity and performance is positive in countries using the voluntary approach while it is negative in countries using the regulatory approach. We conclude that public policy aimed at increasing the number of women on corporate boards should be introduced gradually and voluntarily rather than quickly and coercively to avoid sub?optimal board composition.},

Three difficulties arise when bringing and applying the theoretical knowledge in clinical training: To offer a standard teaching to all students, In 4 dental units located in different hospitals, Under a high level supervision. Materials and method: A dedicated room is equipped with three different
CAD/CAM systems and a 3D printer, as well as characterization and polishing kits (ceramic, composite and furnace). In clinic, with his teacher, the student indicates the partial restoration and performs preparation
and impression (conventional or optical). Design and manufacturing are realized at the faculty under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team, including biomaterials, prosthodontics and conservative dentistry teachers, prosthodontics technicians, engineering specialists and researchers. Results: In this privileged dialogue about a patient, the student discovers the unit scientific interest, as all clinical relevant information about patients, clinical situation and restoration features is recorded for a long-term cohort study. Teachers note a better comprehension of preparation needs and tissue preservation while the student manages the whole process of partial denture restoration. His understanding widens when confronted to clinical situation, cast model and 3D reconstruction. Discussion and conclusion: CAD/CAMis a key teaching in 21st century dental curriculum. These new technologies confront us to a new educational challenge. Because of the limited background available, a multidisciplinar team is necessary to explore the opportunities they open as well as their limitations. From this point of view, collaboration with researchers is essential.},

abstract = {The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of gender diversity on the boardroom and in top management positions on earnings management by French-listed firms. Based on a sample of 170 firms over 4 years, we find that the proportion of women on the board standing as a director or a chair reduces earnings management. This finding suggests that women are effective on their monitoring role and are then considered as a crucial corporate governance device. We also find that the relationship between the presence of at least three women on the board and earnings management is negative suggesting that by increasing thenumber of women on board through regulation and legislation, French firms are likely to enhance the effectiveness of the board to better detect earnings management. However, women standing in CEO and CFO positions do not affect earnings management practices. These findings suggest that efforts made by political bodies to promote equality between men and women on boards are beneficial for French-listed companies by limiting earnings management practices. However, regulating or imposing a quota of women on boards can create a temporal shortage of qualified women available to take up such positions.},

abstract = {The Power grid evolves, but its structure presents several gaps with the new numerical technologies, renewable energies and electric vehicles. The literature introduces the concept of Smart Grid, a system which takes into account the behaviour and the action of its agents. Studying the smart grid through modelling and simulation provides us with valuable results which cannot be obtained in the real world due to time and cost related constraints. Nevertheless, due to the complexity of the smart grid, achieving global optimization is not an easy task. In this paper, we propose a complex system approach to the smart grid modelling, accentuating on the representation of the structure. Thanks to this combination, the optimization can be achieved on a dynamic graph taking into account changes and network errors over time, with the ability to detect them.},

The paper seeks to respond to this question by adopting a psychoanalytically informed approach to the analysis of how individuals perceive their own corruptness. I focus in particular on the Goldman Sachs Abacus deal, a notorious case of corruption concealed behind a facade of legality. Building on the detailed analysis of emails exchanges from within Goldman Sachs, I utilize the Lacanian concept of ?ideological fantasy' to discuss how the traders' narratives bear witness to a certain logic of fantasy that appears to fuel corrupt activities. I also examine the cover-up tactics which were adopted to camouflage the corrupt operations and make them appear licit. Corrupt performances and their cover-up are theorized as forms of self-transgressive jouissance, a simultaneously pleasurable and self- destructive practice that is needed to sustain and protect the impossible norms of the corporation.},

When firms want to repurchase their own shares, they often enter such a contract with a bank. The bank buys the shares for the firm and is paid the average market price over the execution period, the length of the period being decided upon by the bank during the buying process. Mathematically, the problem is new and related to both option pricing (Asian and Bermudan options) and optimal execution. We provide a model, along with associated numerical methods, to determine the optimal stopping time and the optimal buying strategy of the bank.},

abstract = {Statement of problem. Computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) machining influences the surface roughness of dental restorations and tool wear. Roughness must be suitable to meet clinical requirements, and the tool must last as long as possible. Purpose. The purpose of this pilot study was to investigate the influence of the CAD/CAM toolmaterial couple on tool wear and surface roughness after milling. Material and methods. Three tools (Lyra conical tool Ø1 mm; GACD SASU, Lyra conical tool Ø1.05 mm; GACD SASU, and Cerec cylinder pointed tool 12S; Sirona Dental Systems GmbH) and 3 CAD/CAM materials (Lava Ultimate; 3M ESPE, Mark II; VITA Zahnfabrik H. Rauter GmbH, and Enamic; VITA Zahnfabrik H. Rauter GmbH) were tested. The tool wear of 6 tool-material couples at a feed rate of 2 m/min was analyzed before and after 8 minutes of flank and climb milling with optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations and tool weighing. The surface roughness after milling was observed for 9 tool-material couples for flank and climb milling. Feed rates of 1, 2, 3, and 4.8 m/min were used for each couple. Ra, Rt, Rz, Sa, Sq, and Sz roughness criteria were measured. A paired comparison of tool-material couples was conducted with the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results. The Mark II material led to more severe tool wear. Milling of Lava Ultimate resulted in chip deposits on the tool grit. The Cerec cylinder pointed tool 12S was less worn for each material tested. The Cerec cylinder pointed tool 12S and the Lyra conical tool Ø1.05 mm provided similar roughness measurements for the 3 materials tested. The Lyra conical tool Ø1.05 mm tool provided better roughness than the Lyra conical tool Ø1 mm tool for the Enamic material. Conclusion. Tool lifetime calculated by volume of milled material removed should be the measure
provided by CAD/CAM manufacturers instead of a number of blocks. This tool lifetime should be
provided for the milling conditions associated with the material milled. Material hardness and tool grit are key factors for achieving a given roughness.},

abstract = {This paper considers the realistic modelling of derivative contracts on exchange rates. We propose a stochastic volatility model that recovers not only the typically observed implied volatility smiles and skews for short dated vanilla foreign exchange options but allows one also to price payoffs in foreign currencies, lower than possible under classical risk neutral pricing, in particular, for long dated derivatives. The main reason for this important feature is the strict supermartingale property of benchmarked savings accounts under the real world probability measure, which the calibrated parameters identify under the proposed model. Using a real dataset on vanilla option quotes, we calibrate our model on a triangle of currencies and find that the risk neutral approach fails for the calibrated model, while the benchmark approach still works.},

abstract = {Purpose: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is diagnosed and graded with a radiographic evaluation of the joint. However, there is no clear corre- lation between this grade and patient functional outcome scores (Sanghi et al. 2011; Zifchock et al. 2011, Alkan et al. 2013). This leads to the need of a quantitative and precise measure to represent the knee function. In the recent years, to evaluate healthy and OA knee function, the trend was to track skin markers displacements, known to be affected by soft tissue artefacts (Leardini et al., 2005). On the other hand, with imagery-based methods, 3D model acquired either from CT scan or Magnetic resonance imaging are matched on 2D fluoroscopic images (kinematics) or several radiographs (pseudo-kinematics) (Moro-Oka et al., 2006). With objects of known geometry in the radiographic scene (bone-embedded tantalum beads or prostheses), this matching allows attaining kinematic measurement accuracy <1 and <1mm. Without tantalum beads or prostheses, the process lacks reliability and accuracy. Thus, our goal is to present an intrinsic computation method - without any object added in the scene - and to validate its reliability on patients' images as well as its accuracy on simulated radiographs in a pseudo- kinematic context.},

The proposed model can dynamically adjust to the changes in the synergetic services brands of e-commerce over time, including their technical and promotion capabilities. The simulation results show that enterprise innovation fitness increases with an increase in interaction between service capacities. The fitness of moderately interdependent enterprises is greater than enterprises which are completely dependent. In order to gain an optimal level of innovation fitness, an enterprise can make appropriate adjustments, depending on the interdependence of its service capabilities. The innovation evolutionary path of synergetic services in e-commerce is proportionately in line with an S-curve. The system can forecast the macro-level evolution of a synergic service under real scenarios, and support competition-oriented enterprises' decision-making. The synergy of internal service elements can also improve the enterprises' performance in terms of innovation.},

Apart from chairside practice, computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) solutions are available for creating inlays, crowns, fixed partial dentures (FPDs), implant abutments, and other dental prostheses. CAD/CAM dental solutions can be considered a chain of digital devices and software for the almost automatic design and creation of dental restorations. However, dentists who want to use the technology often do not have the time or knowledge to understand it. A basic knowledge of the CAD/CAM digital workflow for dental restorations can help dentists to grasp the technology and purchase a CAM/CAM system that meets the needs of their office. This article provides a computer-science and mechanical-engineering approach to the CAD/CAM digital workflow to help dentists understand the technology.},
