abstract = {This article presents lower and upper bounds on the prices of basket options for a general class of continuous-time financial models. The techniques we propose are applicable whenever the joint characteristic function of the vector of log-returns is known in closed-form. Moreover, the basket value is not required to be positive. We test our new bounds on different multivariate models, allowing for jumps and stochastic volatility. Numerical examples are discussed and benchmarked against Monte Carlo simulations. All bounds are general and do not require any additional assumption on the characteristic function, so our methods may be employed also to non-affine models. All bounds involve the computation of one-dimensional Fourier transforms, hence they do not suffer from the curse of dimensionality. In particular, our new lower bound turns out to be fast and accurate.},

abstract = {In this paper we examine the intraday effects of surprises from scheduled macroeconomic announcements and unscheduled event news on six major exchange rate excess returns (jumps) using a Tobit model with conditionally heteroskedastic errors that we extend so as to account for asymmetries. Besides this novel model, our approach embodies several important features: we perform Lee and Mykland's (2012) non-parametric test procedure to filter out microstructure noise from observed exchange rates and extract jumps as the significant ?equilibrium? returns; various categories of information news from different geographical regions are exploited; the hypothesis of a leverage effect on foreign exchange jumps due to asymmetric volatility shocks is examined. We found that the most influential scheduled macroeconomic news are globally related to the US job markets, output growth indicators and public debt, whereas significant event news include announcements of bank failures and government rescue plans. Surprises impact Forex jumps for about one third as a result of rather pessimistic forecasts due to the crisis period analyzed. For most of the currencies the hypothesis that negative volatility shocks have a greater impact on volatility than positive shocks of the same magnitude is validated, reflecting markets' concern about the costs implied by central bank's stabilization policies. Our findings provide evidence that the major foreign exchange markets are not efficient.},

However, even if the underlying formulas are identical, the metrics and parameters are not the same. Hence, though ECL and CVA measure similar effects, they involve different modelling challenges.},

abstract = {We propose a model of a financial market with multiple assets that takes into account the impact of a large institutional investor rebalancing its positions so as to maintain a fixed allocation in each asset. We show that feedback effects can lead to significant excess realized correlation between asset returns and modify the principal component structure of the (realized) correlation matrix of returns. Our study naturally links, in a quantitative manner, the properties of the realized correlation matrix ? correlation between assets, eigenvectors and eigenvalues ? to the sizes and trading volumes of large institutional investors. In particular, we show that even starting with uncorrelated ?fundamentals?, fund rebalancing endogenously generates a correlation matrix of returns with a first eigenvector with positive components, which can be associated to the market, as observed empirically. Finally, we show that feedback effects flatten the differences between the expected returns of assets and tend to align them with the returns of the institutional investor's portfolio, making this benchmark fund more difficult to beat, not because of its strategy but precisely because of its size and market impact.},

The test of the study's hypotheses relies on longitudinal experimental data from Tunisian minority and French majority consumers in France. The psychological mechanisms that drive website evaluations appear to differ for the two populations. French majority consumers are alienated by culturally incongruent website design, but this negative effect is alleviated by repeated exposure. Tunisian minority consumers tend to prefer website design with a French look and feel, and repeated exposure enhances this effect. The results from an explorative post hoc study echo these findings and suggest that effects of culture-specific website design on consumer website evaluations are contingent on the website product category.},

The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach - A case study methodology on a leading multinational firms deeply involved in smart cities projects has been chosen. Findings - From this study it emerged how IBM: has a clear vision of smart cities and IoT; adopt a worldwide OI approach to smart cities; delineate-specific strategies and create OI units ad hoc for smart cities' projects. Research limitations/implications - The major limitation of this work is that the analysis presented has been developed only on one case of multinational firm that operate in smart cities contexts. Practical implications - Recommendations will be made both to public and private actor in order to plan and implement efficient strategies to improve their performances. Originality/value - The concept of smart city has become quite popular between scholars and practitioners in the era of digital economy. Cities become smart developing new urban area using new Information and Communication Technologies such as mobile devices, the semantic web, cloud computing, and the IoT. Smart cities make innovation ecosystem, joining together different forces like knowledge-intensive activities, institutions for cooperation and learning, and web-based applications collective intelligence. This research is of importance and significance to scholars, government, and firms who need to understand the relevance of smart cities in the current economy.},

Herein, we analyze how innovation strategies on the continuum between closed and open innovations confer different types of legitimacy. Our empirical setting focuses on traditional industries characterized with long and established know-how transferred from generation to generation. The wine industry is pertinent as it went through major changes over the past 30 years and since innovation plays a major role. Over time, our results show that in the wine sector, closed innovation was used not only to gain legitimacy but also to protect the acquired legitimacy. Then, open innovation brought normative and cognitive legitimacy to maintain and protect legitimacy. The findings contribute to the neo-institutional approach of legitimacy. We also contribute on a better understanding regarding the balance between closed and open innovations.},

Nowadays, dental numerical controlled (NC) milling machines are available for dental surgeries (chairside solution). This article provides a mechanical engineering approach to NC milling machines to help dentists understand the involvement of technology in digital dentistry practice. First, some technical concepts and definitions associated with NC milling machines are described from a mechanical engineering viewpoint. The technical and economic criteria of four chairside dental NC milling machines that are available on the market are then described. The technical criteria are focused on the capacities of the embedded technologies of these milling machines to mill both prosthetic materials and types of shape restorations. The economic criteria are focused on investment costs and interoperability with third-party software. The clinical relevance of the technology is assessed in terms of the accuracy and integrity of the restoration.},

These options allow investors to take a joint exposure to the evolution of the underlying asset, as well as to its realized volatility. In equity options markets the slope of the skew is largely independent of the volatility level. A single-factor Heston based volatility model can generate steep skew or flat skew at a given volatility level but cannot generate both for a given parameterization. Since the payoff corresponding to TVO is a function of the joint evolution of the underlying asset and its realized variance, the consideration of stochastic skew is a relevant question for the valuation of TVO.},

The ultimate judgement about how to behave in the Chinese ethical system is not based on ?any distant religious ideal conceived in abstract terms', but instead on something which is immediately accessible and which is largely acted in terms of relationship rules (Redding 1990:62). Unlike in the Western context, trust and commitment play a key role in interpersonal relationship (Morgan and Hunt 1994; Wang et al. 2008); what guides relational exchange behaviours in China is (???'), which is a kind of reciprocal obligation and mutual assurance. A salient feature of Chinese culture is the pervasive role of Guanxi, as delicate fibres that are woven into every Chinese individual's social, political and business life (Brunner and Koh 1988; Brunner et al. 1989; Liu 2009; Tsui and Farh 1997). Developing networks of mutual dependence and creating a sense of indebtedness and obligation is a lubricant for exchange and a key to building successful and long-term relationships with Chinese communities (Standifird and Marshall 2000; Wang et al. 2008; Yang 1994).},

abstract = {This paper investigates how aggregate liquidity influences optimal portfolio allocations across various US characteristic portfolios. We consider short-term allocation problems, with single and multiple risky assets, and use the nonparametric approach of Brandt (1999) to directly express optimal portfolio weights as functions of aggregate liquidity shocks. We find, first, that the effect of aggregate liquidity is positive and decreasing with the investment horizon. Second, at daily and weekly horizons, this effect is weaker on allocations in large stocks and gets stronger as we move toward small stocks, regardless of the other stock characteristics, suggesting that liquidity is the main concern of very short-term investors. Third, conditional allocations in risky assets decrease and exhibit shifts toward more liquid assets as aggregate liquidity worsens. Overall, conditioning on aggregate liquidity yields empirical results that are consistent with the so-called flight-to-safety and flight-to-liquidity episodes. Finally, we propose a simple tactical investment strategy and show how aggregate liquidity information can be exploited to enhance the out-of-sample performance of long-term strategies.},

Our research was carried out on 153 French listed companies during 2008. Using discretionary accruals as a proxy for earnings management, we found a significant positive relationship between CEO characteristics and earnings management. This suggests that since reputed CEOs are well compensated, they are more afraid to lose thier compensation level, and their incentive to manipulate their firm's earnings therefore increases. Findings also indicate that the dual CEO-chair relationship encourages CEOs to manage earnings, particularly when CEO-chairs hold the major proportion of equity in the firm. This finding suggests that CEO-chairs use their managerial power and the freedom from control to extract private yields. Finally, we present new on the relationship between CEO expertise and earnings management, showing that expertise positively affects CEO's behavior leading to their using agressive earnings management.},

abstract = {In this study the perceived value construct of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) is investigated in the context of a learning management system (LMS), in which the construct is redefined from its original price value conceptualization. It was found that many researchers simply ignore the price value construct when applying the UTAUT2 model in technology use studies in the educational context. This study extends the UTAUT2 framework by integrating the learning value construct and provides fresh insight about predictors of students' intentions towards LMS and its use. A quantitative research approach was employed by utilizing a closed-ended questionnaire to collect data from Malaysian university students who were users of LMS. Probability proportional stratified sampling was employed to select an appropriate sample. The results indicated a good measurement and structural model fit and suggested the significant influence of performance expectancy, social influence and learning value on students' intention towards LMS and also confirmed the influence of facilitating conditions and behavioral intention on LMS use. The extended UTAUT2 framework helps in understanding students' perceived value in the LMS context. Furthermore, this study will help institutions to consider the factors for successful implementation of an LMS in an academic setting.},

Theoretical underpinning of motivation theory, self-determination theory (SDT), and cognitive evaluation theory (CET) is used to design the framework. The quantitative empirical research to test the hypothesized relationships was conducted on 276 online students in Pakistan who use Moodle for online learning. By analysing the responses using AMOS, the findings reveal that both the intrinsic motivators (communication module features, course content module features and course delivery module features) and extrinsic motivator (assignment module feature) significantly influence the students' perceived learning effectiveness, which results in improve academic performance.},

We have learned much about the effects of networks but our understanding of how they are formed, how they change, and how networks can themselves possess agential properties that make them complex social actants is limited. In selecting papers for this special issue, we were persuaded by arguments that our understanding of networks and their transformative power can benefit from greater attention to culture and discourse, which provide meaning and direction to network participants and are indispensable agentic resources. The special issue contains two sets of papers. The first set debates the articulation between the organized and emergent dynamics of networks and its impact on knowledge exchanges and innovation. The second set seeks to inform our understanding of the manifestations of power in network dynamics. For each section, we provide a tentative research agenda. Our hope is that this special issue will both advance our ability to conceptualize, measure and manage network evolution and enhance our understanding of the transformative impact of network dynamics on organizations and society.},

entrepreneurship (SE) published in international peer-reviewed journals on management and
entrepreneurship in 2001-2016. In order to achieve the purpose, a systematic literature review
was conducted. The analysis of 70 publications identified main approaches to strategic entrepre-
neurship definition, the stages of development, main research directions and suggested possible
themes for future studies. There were identified three approaches to the study of strategic entre-
preneurship: 1) antecedents of strategic entrepreneurship; 2) impact of SE on firm's performance;
and 3) three-way interaction of antecedents of SE and firm's performance. The mentioned areas
of research were evaluated from the perspective of resource-based view which assumes that the
competitive advantage and value creation depend on the resources that are created or acquired
by a company to implement its strategy, and strategic fit concept that implies a need to align a
company strategy with the conditions of external environment. A possible direction for future
research in this field is the use of configurational approach to the study of strategic entrepreneur-
ship in order to understand which combination of entrepreneurial and strategic action enables
strategic entrepreneurship to be beneficial for the company.},

abstract = {Currently high competitive environment of emerging markets is characterized by a new typology of firm. Such new kind of firm has been defined second mover or ?imovator'. An imovator combines aspects of both imitation and innovation strategies (Shenkar 2010). It exploits the external resources and capabilities of its own network system in order to improve business performance and increase technological capabilities. It takes inspiration from successful innovative products in order to create a similar product but with technical improvements and lower production costs. In the current management literature there are different points of view regards to the competitive advantage to be innovator or imitator: some scholars argue that being innovator is advantageous to companies in order to dominate new market and to acquire a wide range of consumers whereas others point out that it is more efficient and successful to follow the first comer. However none has been studied how the combination between innovation and imitation may affect firms' performance through adpting knowledge exploitation approach and creating relationship with firms' Innovation Network System. So in order to address this gap, the paper analyses two case studies, that is Lenovo from China and redBus.in from India.},

Computer-aided design/ computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) solutions are available not only for chairside practice but also for creating inlays, crowns, fixed partial dentures (FPDs), implant abutments, and other dental prostheses. CAD/CAM dental practice can be considered as the handling of devices and software processing for the almost automatic design and creation of dental restorations. However, dentists who want to use dental CAD/CAM systems often do not have enough information to understand the variations offered by such technology practice. Knowledge of the random and systematic errors in accuracy with CAD/CAM systems can help to achieve successful restorations with this technology, and help with the purchasing of a CAD/CAM system that meets the clinical needs of restoration. This article provides a mechanical engineering viewpoint of the accuracy of CAD/ CAM systems, to help dentists understand the impact of this technology on restoration accuracy.},

We examine geographical and organized proximities as determinants of organizational legitimacy and ?price premium? strategy. Based on secondary data from the Hachette Wine guide, a study was conducted in the French wine industry. Wine does not only include characteristics related to the territory; it also reflects men's decisions within a territory. The `terroir' concept hence encompasses soil, climate, and geology, topography, and cultural-related dimensions. Results show that geographical (two regions, Bordeaux and Languedoc-Roussillon) and organized (nine French Appellations) proximities have opposite effects on legitimacy and price. This study has implications on organizational, collective and territorial levels (both local and national).},

This problem is known also as concave minimization, concave programming or convex maximization. Such problems can have many local maxima, therefore finding the global maximum is a computationally difficult problem, since standard nonlinear programming procedures fail. In this article, we provide a very simple and practical approach to find the global solution of quadratic convex maximization problems over a polytope. A convex function achieves its global maximum at extreme points of the feasible domain. Since an inscribed ball does not contain any extreme points of the domain, we use the largest inscribed ball for an inner approximation while a minimal enclosing box is exploited for an outer approximation of the domain. The approach is based on the use of these approximations along with the standard local search algorithm and cutting plane techniques.},

abstract = {This paper analyzes the role of social capital in entrepreneurial RIS (Regional Innovation Systems). We disaggregate the features of mature entrepreneurial RIS into three dimensions of social capital: structural, relational, and cognitive. We apply these features of mature entrepreneurial RIS to the still-evolving entrepreneurial RIS from East Asia including Daedeok Innopolis of Korea and Hsinchu Science Park of Taiwan. The spawning effect of representative companies within focal industries, collaboration among the key organizational actors, and attraction and retention of talent are taken into account. The study uncovers a new aspect of still-evolving entrepreneurial RIS, which complements the existing typology categorizing RIS into institutional RIS and entrepreneurial RIS. Whereas the conventional literature has viewed the East Asian RIS as institutional RIS, the findings of this study allow scholars to view the East Asian RIS as entrepreneurial in their own distinctive manner. Meanwhile, we also find an important implication for making a shift from a top-down to a bottom-up approach in order for the still-evolving entrepreneurial RIS to vitalize cognitive social capital. Thus, we suggest the transitions from outward-looking social capital to inward-looking social capital.},

abstract = {The Northern Song period (960-1127) has been recognized as one of the most important eras in China's economic and demographic history. This study investigates the key factors and mechanisms that led to economic restructuring and wealth generating to support a growing population. By revealing state-led changes in the economy, it challenges some commonly circulated interpretations of the remarkable economic development and population growth in Northern Song China.},

abstract = {Frequent itemset mining (FIM) is a useful task for discovering frequent co-occurring items. Since its inception, a number of significant FIM algorithms have been developed to speed up mining performances. Unfortunately, for huge dataset, scalability remains an important issue. In this work, we propose a new propositional satisfiability (SAT) parallel approach, called PSATCFIM, to deal with closed frequent itemsets mining problem. It is designed to run on multicore machines and uses a divide and conquer approach to partition the enumeration process. Such partitioning based on guiding paths eliminates computational overlap between cores. Through empirical study, we demonstrate that PSATCFIM can achieve significant performance improvements with respect to the sequential based version.},

abstract = {This paper investigates the role of bilateral trade openness in technology-acquiring cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&As) by emerging market firms (EMFs). The cross-border M&A, patents, and financial data from January 2000 to December 2013 have been utilised for empirical analyses. By analysing cumulative abnormal returns of the acquirer EMFs from Brazil, Russia, China, India, and Mexico, the value-creating nature of technology-acquiring cross-border M&As has been confirmed. In addition, the number of the patents owned by the target firms showed a positive and significant effect on the stock performance of cross-border acquirers. Finally, the bilateral trade openness significantly and positively moderated the relation between the innovation capability of the target firms and EMFs' stock performance.},
