abstract = {The application of robots for the inspection of pipelines are of greater significance in industries such as nuclear, chemical and sewage. The major problem in the design of these robots lies in the selection of a suitable locomotion principle, selection of an articulation unit that facilitates the robot to pass through pipe bends and management of cables. In this context, the design of a new bio-inspired piping inspection robot that resembles an elephant trunk has been presented. With the help of leg mechanisms and actuators, a caterpillar locomotion is used within this trunk for establishing adaptive contact points with the walls of pipeline. For the passage through bends and junctions, several case studies of existing researches have been taken into account for the design of an articulation unit. Two solutions, (i) a passive tensegrity structure and (ii) an active tensegrity structure have been proposed for the robot to pass through pipe bends and junctions. A detailed design analysis of the passive solution that uses a universal joint has been presented in this article.},

abstract = {We apply the OLI framework, first, to examine the motives of Russian cross-border (CB) M&A activity in the period 2007-2013 and, second, to analyze the ownership preferences of Russian multinationals abroad. We test our first set of models using panel data of 322 country/year observations and the second set of models using cross-sectional firm-level data of 318 M&A deals. Our analysis shows that traditional investment motives provide a limited explanation of what attracts or deters Russian acquirers abroad. We extend our base-model to include institutional distance and find that it plays a critical role on Russian CB M&A activity. As a second step, we employ state ownership as a specific type of institutional ownership advantage and discover that partial state ownership discourages Russian firms from pursuing full-ownership in CB M&As. Moreover, Russian multinationals benefit from internalization advantages (full M&A ownership) in tandem with location advantages derived from natural resource endowments.},

abstract = {We consider the time dependent Darcy problem in a three-dimensional axisymmetric domain and, by writing the Fourier expansion of its solution with respect to the angular variable, we observe that each Fourier coefficient satisfies a system of equations on the meridian domain. We propose a discretization of these equations in the case of general solution. This discretization relies on a backward Euler's scheme for the time variable and finite elements for the space variables. We prove a posteriori error estimates that allow for an efficient adaptivity strategy both for the time steps and the meshes. Computations for an example with a known solution are presented which support the a posteriori error estimate.},

In doing so, the moderating effect of product categorization of e-retail products on firm-level variables has been ignored. To address the implications of e-retail product categorization, this chapter asks the following question, What is the moderating effect of e-retail product category on sales performance? This chapter uses concepts of information economics, e-retailing, and the search-experience-credence (SEC) categorization of products to develop theoretical hypotheses. Using data from 500 US e-retailers, this chapter contends that the ease to evaluate retail products online has a positive effect on sales volume of e-retail firms. This effect is the result of increased web traffic and decreased conversion rates, which describes the e-retail market behavior with firm-level variables.},

As existing scales focus only on relational norms and are mostly limited to business-to-business contexts, Study 1 (n?=?164) proposes measurement scales for seven exchanges norms adapted to a business-to-consumer context: Reciprocity, The Linking norms, Creation and restraint of power, Role integrity, Solidarity, Flexibility, and Effectuation of consent. Study 2 (n?=?295) tests the influence on these norms on customer satisfaction. The article demonstrates that exchange norms as a whole positively affect customer satisfaction and, more specifically, that relational norms explain satisfaction better than discrete norms. The findings also show that, contrary to customer relationship proneness, relationship duration moderates the link between exchange norms and customer satisfaction.},

The study of the direct kinematic model shows that this robot admits self-motion of the Cardanic type as the 3-RPR planar parallel robot where the first revolute joint of each leg is actuated or the PamINSA parallel robot. This property explains why the direct kinematic model admits an infinite number of solutions in the center of the workspace but has never been studied until now. The condition of this singularity is described and the location of the self-motion in the workspace with respect to all the singularities is then presented. The quaternion parameters are used to represent the singularity surfaces and the self-motion conditions in the workspace.},

Each city has different resources and capabilities to develop specific industries, and economic partnerships between cities are essential to developing these resources into economic value. However, few city planners have clear directions in choosing partner cities, and their decisions are rarely based on appropriate data analysis. Based on Brookings Institution's Global City Initiative 2.0 project, we introduce a step-by-step guideline to city planners in finding global partner cities. Additionally, we share our own anecdote regarding how Philadelphia chose potential partner cities to attract more FDI in its biopharmaceutical. This case-based paper provides practical implications to city planners in prioritizing the market by global partnerships.},

Our approach is based on a coupling between Bayesian learning and dynamic programming techniques that leads to partial differential equations. It enables to recover the well-known results of Karatzas and Zhao in a framework à la Merton, but also to deal with cases where martingale methods are no longer available. In particular, we address optimal portfolio choice, portfolio liquidation, and portfolio transition problems in a framework à la Almgren-Chriss, and we build therefore a model in which the agent takes into account in his decision process both the liquidity of assets and the uncertainty with respect to their expected return.},

Data from Pakistan reveal empirical support for this effect. Organizations whose employees suffer resource depletion at work because of family obligations can still enjoy productive helping behaviors within their ranks, to the extent that they support relevant work ethics.},

L'une des premières étapes de l'approche d'exploration de données est la sélection précise de données
pertinentes. Pour ce faire, les données brutes doivent être classées

abstract = {Piping inspection robots are of greater importance for industries such as nuclear, chemical and sewage. Mechanisms having closed loop or tree-like structures can be employed in such pipelines owing to their adaptable structures. A bio-inspired caterpillar type piping inspection robot was developed at Laboratoire des Sciences du Numérique de Nantes (LS2N), France. Using DC motors and leg mechanisms, the robot accomplishes the locomotion of a caterpillar in six-steps. With the help of Coulomb's law of dry friction, a static force model was written and the contact forces between legs of robot and pipeline walls were determined. The actuator forces of the DC motors were then estimated under static phases for horizontal and vertical orientations of the pipeline. Experiments were then conducted on the prototype where the peak results of static force analysis for a given pipe diameter were set as threshold limits to attain static phases inside a test pipeline. The real-time actuator forces were estimated in experiments for similar orientations of the pipeline of static force models and they were found to be higher when compared to the numerical model.},

abstract = {In this paper, a multiscale model of ductile damage and its effects on the inelastic behavior of face centered cubic polycrystalline metallic materials, such as the evolution of their crystallographic textures, are investigated. The constitutive equations are written in the framework of rate-dependent polycrystalline plasticity at the microscopic scale. Plasticity and damage are coupled through a ductile damage variable introduced at the scale of the crystallographic slip systems of each grain. When homogenized to the macro-scale, this becomes an approximate phenomenological measure of the macroscopic ductile damage which can describe the material degradation by initiation, growth, and coalescence of micro-defects. In this paper, thermally activated intergranular (or creep) damage is not taken into account. Both theoretical and numerical aspects of the model are presented. The model is implemented into a generalpurpose finite element code in order to analyze the effects of texture evolution and ductile damage initiation in the grains with favorably oriented slip systems. The capability of the proposed model to predict the plastic strain localization and the induced textural evolution, as well as the effects of the ductile damage and its evolution up to the final macroscopic failure are studied for a classical tensile loading path, applied to a representative volume element and to a 3D tensile specimen on which a parametric study has been carried out.},

This study aims to contribute to the existing literature of examining bitcoin returns under a financial asset purview. Through multiple robust tests, the market efficiency of daily bitcoin returns is analyzed for the time frame of July 2010 till March 2018. Strong evidence of market inefficiency characterized by absence of random walk model is found. The market inefficiency was found attributable to the presence of asymmetric volatility clustering. More studies are needed to examine the temporal dynamics of bitcoin returns.},

abstract = {The goal of the paper is the integration of safety analysis in a model-based systems engineering approach to ensure consistency between system design and safety artifacts. This integration permits the continuous improvement of the structure and behavior of the system. It also reduces system development time and prevents late detection of errors. To reach this purpose, the SafeSysE methodology is extended. In SafeSysE, a preliminary Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is automatically generated from a SysML model, and this FMEA is then completed by the safety expert but no further development was proposed. The contribution of this paper is to suggest recommendations based on the FMEA analysis in order to enhance the system design and make it comply with safety requirements. First, an updated system structure that may contain redundancy is proposed. Then, a redundancy profile is used to enrich the system model with redundancy information, which will allow the generation of a dynamic fault tree considering the system behavior. Finally, the generated dynamic fault tree should be analyzed in order to create a state machine diagram that describes the behavior of the system. The created state machine with an internal block diagram will help the system designers to better understand the system dysfunctions by simulating the system. The proposed methodology is applied to an Electro-Mechanical Actuator system which is used in the aeronautics domain.},

abstract = {This work presents a practical detailed finite element (FE) approach for the three dimensional (3D) free vibration analysis of actual aircraft and spacecraft type lightweight and thin honeycomb sandwich panels. It consists of calling successively in MATLAB®, via a developed user friendly GUI, a detailed 3D meshing tool, a macro commands language translator and a commercial FE solver (ABAQUS® or ANSYS®). In contrary to the common practice of meshing finely the faces and core cells, the proposed meshing tool represents each wall of the actual hexagonal core cells as a single two dimensional (2D) 4 nodes quadrangular shell element or two 3 nodes triangular ones, while the faces meshes are obtained simply using the nodes at the core faces interfaces. Moreover, as the same 2D FE interpolation type is used for meshing the core and faces, this leads to an automatic handling of their required FE compatibility relations. This proposed approach is applied to a sample made of very thin glass fiber reinforced polymer woven composite faces and a thin aluminum alloy hexagonal honeycomb core. The unknown or incomplete geometric and materials properties are first collected through direct measurements, reverse engineering techniques and experimental FE modal analysis based inverse identification. Then, the free vibrations of the actual honeycomb sandwich panel are analyzed experimentally under different boundary conditions and numerically using different mesh basic cell shapes. It is found that this approach is accurate for the first few modes used for pre design purpose.},

abstract = {In this study, we use an evidence-based approach to examine the factors that determine the competitive advantage of dairy supply chains using evidence from the Chinese dairy industry. We focus on the quality assurance of dairy products, which is considered one of the fundamental influential factors. We investigate interrelationships among the identified determinants, which include dairy production behavior, dairy cow culture model, government regulations, corporate social responsibility, and quality assurance, and examine how these determinants influence the competitive advantage of dairy supply chains. We employ the structural equation modeling approach in which grouped observable variables that represent the identified determinants are extrapolated from primary data collected through a questionnaire survey. Our key findings show that by mediating the effects of dairy production behavior and the dairy cow culture model, government regulation and corporate social responsibility significantly affect the quality assurance of dairy products. In turn, dairy production behavior and the dairy cow culture model significantly affect the competitive advantage of the dairy supply chain via the fully mediated effects of the quality assurance of dairy products. Specifically, the dairy cow culture model helps ensure the safety and quality of milk supply, allowing core dairy firms to control product quality throughout the dairy supply chain. Our empirical study shows that the identified determinants interact to assure the quality of dairy products and enhance the competitive advantage of the dairy supply chain in China.},

abstract = {In this study, we show that institutional influences are stronger than technical ones in predicting the cross-national diffusion of standards on disaster preparedness. We examine the adoption of the first global disaster risk reduction standard, the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA), in 186 countries from 2005-2015. Although practical accounts emphasize the technical benefits of the framework in mitigating potential harm and damage, surprisingly, these explanations do little to explain country-level adoption - even when a nation has recently experienced a disaster. Thus, we test and find strong support for an alternative explanation, which draws on the influence of organizational sociology: that institutional influences are the primary driver diffusion of global standards. Specifically, the enduring effects of historical legacies play a particularly important role in adoption. Taken together, our results suggest that preparedness against natural disasters is a culturally mediated practice. A practical implication of our work is that many of the countries most in need of disaster preparedness may, at present, be the least prepared."},
